You guys are ROUGH! I thought the EVO was beautiful being thrown down that mountain, especially in the snow, and then the Aston Martin's in the dirt! Sure it's no UK TG. Maybe it would help to compare it to other US car shows instead? Have you guys seen motorweek recently?

Jason, you are probably on to something. I think I will watch it with the sound off. I think it comes down to me being envious and knowing I could (and would love to do) a much better job than these guys. You notice they have an audience but I believe they are using a laugh track because they aren't laughing. Your right, they make the motor week guy look like James Bond and Jay Leno rolled into one.

I agree the 2nd one was much better and so was the guest.

I thought the Evo segment was cool, but Rutledge Wood is so boring in the other segment. He is like a zombie reading a cue card or something. Even James May has some personality for pete's sake.

It just hit me last night who would be good host for the show...Tim Allen. He's a real car guy and a comedian.

The dog was cool at the end. At least that part didn't look scripted.

Haven't read this complete thread, but I have to say I like the show. Like it so much that after two days at the track watched the second one before crashing. The second one was far better than the first though. The chopper part was cheesy. The Evo in the snow was cool! And the blind guy was great!

Did the BBC version have a segment with a blind driver? So far all the other segments are clones of things done with the BBC version (chopper and skiing).

Pair up Tim Allen and Jay Leno and you would have a very interesting show. - AB

Thanks Jason, that was exactly what I was going to say. You guys are being really rough on the hosts of this show. I agree that they might not have been the best choices, but I really don't think they could have afforded Tim Allen and Jay Leno I cannot comprehend how expensive that would be, you gotta be realistic here. They do not seem to be sparing any expense on production of the show however, I'd go as far as to say the production is better than the UK version. Some of the car stuff is really outstanding. The hosts clearly don't have the personalities/chemistry as the UK version, but they aren't so horrible, I chuckled more than a couple times watching episode 2. Also before being too judgmental on this show one should probably look at the first season of the UK version, Jason Dawe who preceded James May was far from hilarious and Clarkson and Hammond were not what they are today either, keep in mind they have had 15 seasons to develop the new shows we are watching today. One other factor is the English accent, the US hosts could deliver the exact same jokes and it simply isn't gonna be as funny without the accent.

Watch the latest Motorweek episode and then watch this latest episode of TG USA and tell me again is boring and unwatchable. Then again, I've been watching Motorweek for better part of 3 decades so clearly I'm easily entertained by anything involving cars.

I doubt Leno would go to cable anyway.

What they SHOULD have done was have had him produce (and maybe star) in the USTG when he left late night... instead of trying to do that lame ass prime time talk show.

While I agree that Leno would be a natural at this show, I thought I remember reading that Leno brings in 100Mil a year? I'm going to go out on a limb here, and assume that exceeds USTG's budget.

I sometimes watch Motorweek too, but it isn't exactly scintellataing TV either. But when they name a show after the original we are supposed to compare it to the original. The Office, American Idol, etc. are all US versions of British shows.

I thought Tanner Foust might be interesting but he just gushes over the cars. This episode was only a little better.

I agree it will be hard to develop chemistry since I'm guessing all the episodes have been shot. I'll have to see if the audience is the same and if there is still dog pee on the set and pantlegs

So what did you guys think of episode three? I thought it was OK and the challenge segment was little more 'fun'. I wish they would have started at The Rock so their cars would have still been mostly intact. It was cool to see them on a track a lot of us including myself have driven our on cars on.

Airborne Caddy = cool

Rutledge Wood trying deliver any punch line = suck

It's getting better every episode... this was definitely the best so far. I'm glad they did away with the course description for the BS-SC segment.

There was a lot of talk before this episode about them talking bad about cars, whether or not they would... I think they did a pretty good job in this episode of saying what they felt. Whether or not they do it with a new car test or not, I guess remains to be seen... but so far so good I think.
