My point was the man wasn't "fun" (personality) so he didn't appeal to me. My guess is the target audience of the US TG is younger than the UK one (I may be wrong though) and those folks don't think Buzz is as cool as you do I'll bet.

Go to youtube and watch the first episode of Jeremy and the Hamster on the new series - they can 'wheel it' now because they have had plenty of practice - that episode it was just lots of tire smoke and they would finish with a smoky spin-out, not the long lurid powerslide-powerslide-powerslide-powerslide of today.

I can't really comprehend why anyone would find a man who went to the moon and back describing that process in any small part "boring" regardless of age, but your probably right most people in the target demographic would probably just say "Whose this old geezer, George Washington? *click* Let's see whats going on on Jersey Shore." :roll:

His appearance is unfortunate in the fact that now we will likely get to see Ty Pennington kick his ass on the track and an American hero will be sitting at the bottom of the leader board. I'm sure they were just going for the impact in this first episode and the future celebrities will be pop culture favorites who will be much more entertaining. At least he will have the excuse that he was 80.

BTW, I certainly have a TV, a really big one in fact and I watch TV all the time, I just don't watch the cancer that is "reality TV", watching that stuff is like directly applying sand paper to my soul.

They have old folks on UKTG too. Hell, many of the "stars" are British celebs who I've never heard of (although Tom Cruise topped the leaderboard despite almost flipping the car)

I'll have to watch the rest of the show. I wasn't impressed with the opening segment. I hope the chemistry improves - and maybe Rutledge Wood will get runover midseason or earlier so he doesn't continue to be an idiot.

BuZz Aldrin was all wrong. Sure he is a great american but so was Rosa Parks but I don't want to see her drive a car on track either. This is supposed to be fun. I hate Tom Cruise but he did great on the BBC version. Ginny Mcarthy was on Two and Half Men last night so she must be working cheap,she would be a better choice. They need something fun to gain viewer ship, If i didn't know about the BBC version I would never tune in again. That was as boring as the guy painting on PBS.

I didn't see Rob had mentioned Tom Cruise as well, that scares me that we are both on the same wave length.

Scientology (sp?) not withstanding, I have no problem with Tom Cruise. If you watch a lot of TG you'd notice that the in-studio crowd went wild on that episode when he and Cameron Diaz were introduced. Much more so than any other guest(s) I've seen so maybe they don't hate all of us Americans. On top of that it seems Tom can drive too.

Jenny has been on 2.5 Men before and working cheap or not she is still GIT-R-DONE material in my book.

P.S. I don't watch much 'reality' TV either, especially if it's shown on MTV.

Don't forget, Tom had a small racing career that started after he worked with Paul Newman on Color of Money.

His Z31 300ZX was at this year's 2010 National Z Convention

Patrick Dempsey would have been an obvious choice in my opinion... but at this point, he could also be considered a professional race driver, so he's in that grey area of "celebrity" or "racer"

I think there are a few of those. Jason Priestley comes to mind as well. And yes, I did watch *that* show just in case there was any doubt.

I thought Jason Priestley gave up driving cars fast after a REALLY bad crash a few years back.

While it would be cool it would also be a bit tough, Bob has been dead for about 15 years
