I wouldn't launch any differently for drag racing than I do in autox....rev to 4-5k rpms and slip the clutch for 20 feet or so keeping the revs around 3-4k until fully engaged....no wheel spin. Easy on tranny....hard on clutch. Clutches are cheap :).

I'm pretty sure there's a red corvette that's heading that way. It eats STI rice and poops BMW strudel.

if I didnt already have plans I would have to come show you that a stock miata can beat your red vette...

I wish you all a fun and safe time.

NOTE: I am intestinally leaving out the fact that I would need a substantial head start.

If you can't launch an AWD via a 5K rpm clutch drop, why bother? :P

Don't know, bring it out and we'll find out.

Bernie's car should be making 25 or so more peak horsepower than Brian's car, so it would likely come down to hooking up off the line and driver.

I'll probably be there, since it's Fayetteville (I misread it as Rockingham the first time). I'll see if I can beat any Corvettes/Mustangs to the 1/8 mile. I only have an estimated 385lb/ft & 350hp, and I use the James Short method of launching, so :whoknows: The car should be good for 12.something in the 1/4, but I don't drag race, so I'm not expecting much.

Other than being hard on the drivetrain, because it would be terribly slow. A 5k clutch drop would get 2 or 3 revolutions of wheel spin and then they'd hook and the car would bog and you mind as well turn around and start over. A clutch slip launch has you at 8-10 psi of boost by the time the clutch fully engages....takes off like a rocket.

Aaron can get away with side stepping because his tranny is a monster and his gearing is MUCH shorter than mine.
