I hate working the course at autox and I must tell you about it, often.

The local Just Tires, aka, Goodyear, will mount and balance anything I want. They have a fixed price for mount/balance listed on the wall. Doesn't seem to matter where the tires come from.

Now I use a small shop close to my house. He doesn't have the fancy Hunter machines but I've had no problems with race rubber. They seem to work fine and the cost is cheap.

Discount Tire in Mooresville still does my drop-offs whenever I need them. The new manager so far has been taking care of me like the old manager.

The previous manager, Mark, is now running the new DT in Hickory if any lives over in that direction. Great guy to work with, mention my name if needed.

I am happy enough with them that I will continue running their sticker on my hood for a while. The extra 5hp helps!!!

Most of the triangle area stores have Hunter Roadfoce Balancers. There are a couple of stores that use a different machine. FWIW, I have the Hunter equipment in my store.

Jeb solved my balance issues with the street tires (Star Specs, bought from Tire Rack almost 2 years back) for the M5 yesterday using his roadforce Hunter machine (which the Wake Forest DT lacks, so I think I've found my new DT home store). Thanks Jeb for a masterful job yesterday. I put the wheels back on the car last night, and it is smooth as silk -- huge change. These Dunlops are definitely not up to the manufacturing tolerances of a Michelin PS2.

Jeb, I now need to get the 850R to you since it has some vibration problems at speed too (and these tires, Eagle GT, were bought from DT in Wake Forest, one was replaced already due to out of round condition). I'm sure you'll be able to solve the issue with the Hunter machine.

Thanks,
Chuck

Nice! I didn't realize that Discount had the roadforce balancer at any of their locations. My Dunlops need a little tlc as they're a little caddywompus.

Chuck, my Bridgestone RE-01R's on the M3 were like that; tough to balance but never had a problem with the Pilots. I guess that's why they're an arm & a leg but not very good autocross tires.

Yeah, the set of PS2s I had on the M5 last measured roadforce numbers in the low single digits, and hardly needed any weights at all.

Head over to see Jeb. If your Dunlops can be fixed, he'll be able to do it. It's easy to use their web interface also to setup an appt.

Glad things smoothed out for you Chuck. I was happy to help. My schedule the next few weeks is a little crazy, but if I am not there, my guys are more than capable to do the same on the 850.
