the cast of the television show Glee has surpassed The Beatles for total number of hits listed at number one on the Billboard Charts. they did this by releasing cover tunes. my god, next week they plan to cover The Rocky Horror Picture Show. the horror, the horror...

well, this got me to thinking. our society as a whole is in a deflationary period of original thought / art. what once worked for someone else can be re-played to no real gain other than to the pocket book of the mimic.

Dark Ages, indeed. when does the Rennaisance occur? are we doomed to watch the defamation / deflation of our generational icons until even Honda owns the rights to the Godzilla franchise?

Since there were no itunes in the Beatles day it's not exactly apples-to-apples, but they actually have quite a few talented people on that show. Yes Ryan, I watch it in case you didn't know already. :o

FYI, I wasn't a Beatles fan...another shocker to some I'm sure.

Let the ridicule begin, I'm used to it!

I automatically assume that anything a 13 year old girl likes, you will like as well. Didn't know I needed to put Steve in that category as well.

Music started going downhill when the phonograph was invented. But Glee is awesome, and I don't expect them to compose their own music. As a musician the idea that you can only perform your own compositions is silly. Some people are good performers, some are good composers and its rare to have both in the same person. Many performers would do better using other people's songs rather than insisting on living up to the ridiculous singer/songwriter ethos.

Steve, I think you meant to say:

"Watching Glee and drinking an Appletini while Javier my "man-servant" gives me a pedicure"

This is because now the quality standard is Sales=Quality. If something sells more that something else it is seen as better. (As opposed to what it really is - sheep/Lemming mentality)

As opposed to listening to some 'expert' critic who tells you something that sold less is better? I can decide for myself what is 'better' and I don't need sales figures or a critic to help me. Besides music taste is quite subjective wouldn't you agree?

While you guys were watching Glee I discovered Hd Theater. They have some great classic car and motorcycle stuff. Also, have you guys seen on Two Guys Garage them stuffing an LS3 into a 1990 M3, maybe VK would even like that Beamer.
