Anybody have a good source for this? Starting to feel like it's time for a tire trailer and this is the first step.

Serious Auto has one for $250 plus shipping. Anybody use this?
D'Lan, DaLan, Whatever-Lan doesn't seem to show up on too many websites anymore.

I'm thinking hidden since it seems like you can unload a bit more weight off the car once you arrive.

I got mine from Hubcap Heaven! It is not totally hidden, but is a Class 1 hitch with a removable tongue. Total weight without the tongue and ball can't be more than 15 lbs tops. That's less than 3 gallons of fuel. Weight is really not an issue with these small hitches.

One thing I learned, the specialists like Raleigh Hitch don't stock hitches for Miata's, and won't order one!

Installation is one, maybe two beers tops. Also a couple of aw-shits involved, but it's relatively painless.

Pricing was not close to what you're talking about at HH&W, if I remember right.

Someone on SCCA forums was just trying to sell a hitch for a first gen Miata.

http://www.sccaforums.com/ubb/ultimateb ... /1370.html

Check that out, and if it failes, then definately HubCap Heaven!

I have the Da'Lan hidden hitch - it's completely hidden, and should even be compatible with an R-package rear chin spoiler. I picked up mine used for $120 just before VIR-Full in Feb.

It took me exactly 15 minutes to install. The rear tow hooks had never been removed on my car, so I simply unbolted them, and bolted the hitch right up with the same hardware. I'm sure you're supposed to use a bit heavier hardware, but with a tire trailer, the load is quite light, and the stock bolts should be plenty strong.

Oddly enough, one of the little chattering/vibration noises I used to have is now gone since the hitch install. The hitch wasn't designed to be a chassis brace, but it's aparrently doing something in that neighborhood.
