Wow Dick, thanks for doing to research for me :). That was like a Dickopedia entry right there ;).

I'm not sure if that is a compliment or a slam.

I enjoyed the research (slow day at work) and actually wanted to verify what I thought I knew. There is lots of more detailed info on the Geartronics website for anyone interested. Fortunately for my budget, etc. sequential shifting is NOT allowed for Formula Fords even though the hardware exists (I think) to convert the Hewland Mk9.

Too bad it is only for the Fiesta and/or Focus at this point.

Why go with a Fiesta.... of all the cars they could remake... just WHY!!

Next year he'll be in a Chevy Citation or Dodge Aries...

The Fiesta was a good car, much better than anything similiar at the time. One of my buddies in a car pool had one when I lived in Roanoke and went VT. We would always take it on Fridays and have a beer while blasting home on back roads (that was legal at the time) As an aside, we would drink miller long necks. Long neck bottles had gone out of vogue at the time but were the new fad I think because Tom Magnum was drinking them. Of course we all had the bushy mustaches and white reeboks as well.

Back on topic: Built in Germany so you can't compare it to Citations and Aries IMHO.

And it's ridiculous as ever. That said, I am stopping by Crossroads Ford on Sunday and test driving a Fiesta.

With an STi, the production version may be a lot less powerful than the Prodrive prepared racing models, but at least you can take an STi off of the showroom and the car will actually perform well under the same conditions as the special rally versions. With the Fiesta, is there any model you can buy that will anything remotely like Ken Block's car?

(For that matter, how many cars can do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds?)

Europe is supposed to have an AWD turbo Fiesta. Not sure how advanced the AWD (ie center diff) is relative to the STI.

If they sold one in the US that could do the stuff my STi can do, but was about 500lbs lighter, I might buy a Ford.
