It makes more sense if its the US version, as the UK show rarely comes to the US.

History Channel is currently producing a US version. There was a pilot created by NBC, but that was axed. You can find some promo stuff on YouTube. Not sure when the first episode is supposed to be shown.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

From Wikipedia:

"Top Gear is an American copy of the original British motoring television series that was originally slated to air on NBC as an early 2009 replacement series, but was dropped by the network before broadcast due to issues relating to its high production costs and concerns that it would not develop an audience following the failure of the show Knight Rider.[1]"

Night Rider????? :-)

rumors are that it is the UK group, they are bringing a Porsche GT2, and using the Atoms at VIR. They also want fast "looking cars" on track so a few have receive invites. I think they want to blow by these cars in the GT2 and Atom II.

While the success of a US Top Gear (no matter how well done) is still up for debate...

Clearly those who are making the decisions at NBC clearly don't understand who the "Top Gear" audience is.

No kidding! I'd be very surprised if the overlap between the Knight Rider and Top Gear audiences was more than 10%.

This is the UK version for sure. I got the invite and have had followup questions, but no official acceptance yet. Supposed to know by tomorrow.

And this will NOT be open to the public in any way. And folks that do get in will supposedly have no meet and greet, photo, or autograph session, either.

Have you ever watched "Battle of the Supercars"? If so you'd know that term would apply to Paul Tracy, not Tanner.

My comment was made off any MTV or Speed channel show he has been a part of.
