Ok ford guys, I need some help and a recommendation. A friend of mine at work that has a 98 f150 truck w/ 190k miles on it. He’s recently had some issues w/ it and just had the PVC replaced along w/ a hose. The dealership recommended replacing IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) valves to correct a CEL. This seems to be a common problem for the 4.2 liter motors w/ high mileage. My friend lives near Wendell. Any recommendations for a independent mechanic in that area?
What does the IMRC do? Haven’t quite figured that one out. Seems like they can be removed w/ out much impact to the performance of the engine per some of the forums.
