The Car that Dale and Boris will drive will be a Gen 2 Version of the C5-R. It's a version from late last year that ran at PLM. I don't think it will be as fast as the other two cars. But knowing GM they will Sandbag the top 2 and make them look better. Corvette really has no competition this year in GTS with the absence of Prodrive. So it's entirely possible. The Acemco Saleen may give them a run, but the Pirelli tires aren't good enough to hold up.

Also, the only reason the C5 was third in the 24 was Dale drove it off course several times and broke the rear end. Otherwise it'd have been second. The only reason he's running the car is for press, not because he's fast.

Rob,

You obviously didn't watch the Daytona 24 this year. (That's right, you said that the DP cars are crap. I guess you didn't watch a very entertaining race then. Too bad.) The car that Jr., Tony Stewart, and I believe Andy Wallace drive lead for a VERY long time. The ONLY reason it didn't win is because it broke some suspension bits. All three drivers were fast. Wallace wasn't the only fast guy. And he wasn't the only one driving the car. I think that based on that assesment, one could say that the guys that normally drive the grocery getters are pretty darn fast.
Don't try to say that Grand Am has the second tier drivers either. The starting grid was full of drivers with TONS of laps, and championships, under their belts.

Sorry Rob, I forgot to turn on my timing and scoring computer and tap into Grand Am's system. Don't have lap times for you.
