Well sure. Otherwise there'd be nothing good to eat in Durham, for example. ;)

That's an excellent point.

Possibly of interest to folks, we tried Guglhupf tonight for the first time after hearing good reviews from several places, and we were not disappointed...

You guys in the triangle think Smithfield's is good BBQ (not even CLOSE) so I'll take your opinions for what I paid. If you want REAL BBQ you have to drive east (I know you guys hate that) and come to Parker's.

VK, are you kidding? B's Barbecue is way out ahead of Parkers. For those of you who don't know, it is in an old gas station and they cook on wood out back. I think the B comes from the sanitation rating but that's just because you might see them chopping the pork while smoking a cigarette. They also store the Green Bean Can's in the mens bathroom.

I tried Parker's this weekend for the first time and it was really good bbq, the cole slaw on the other hand was practically inedible. Maybe I got a bad batch because I can't imagine anyone enjoying eating what I was served there. The bbq and fried chicken were great though as well as the mac & cheese and the crispy apple thingy's for desert.

However, nothing still compares to Allen & Sons though. I've simply never had pulled pork bbq that stands out quite so much. Not everyone I've taken there loves it as it is a pretty strong flavor, VERY smoky, but nearly perfect for my pallet. Their coleslaw is also particularly awesome and nearly perfect to me. The other things like brisket, wings, and ribs haven't been particularly good though at A & S however.

There was a place for awhile in the RTP area called "Rub's" that seemed to get just about everything right, but its changed names and management recently and just isn't as good which is a shame.

You mean on Hwy 301 South? I've been there tons of times and have never seen mac-n-cheese there. Did you have the brunswick stew as well? As for the slaw, I can eat it, but I'm not a huge slaw fan anyway.

No, this one was in Greenville on 11. I didn't try the brunswick stew, but wish I had ordered it instead of coleslaw, I generally really like coleslaw though.

Yeah, you need to go to the original one on Hwy 301 in Wilson.

Stephenson's BBQ out near us is REALLY good.

Next time we have a RallyX (Sept 5th), you guys should try it- just look it up or ask me how to get there, it's maybe 10-15 minutes away.
