So there I am, after a long day of racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway today. I grabbed a cold beer and a water from the cooler and headed off to the awards presentation.

What's that? Oh noes, this beer is a pop top!!!! I almost cut my hand trying to wring its neck!

What shall I do? I desperately want this beer!

Ahhh, remember it, visualize it., learn from it... YES! At the Colony Inn last month, I saw young Mr Westerfield pop a beer cap off using nothing more than an unopened bottle of water! At the time, I thought it was a great party trick.

As I stand there holding an open beer in one hand and a bottle of water in the other, I am thinking it was more of a lifesaving technique we should all learn.

Thanks for the tricks, man!

-Kevin

This probably works on lots of different cars, but I know for sure it works on BMW E30 trunklids- you can pop the cap off using the oval/rectangular holes in the underside reinforcement "ribs" of the trunklid as bottle opener. My trunklid is full of bottlecaps thanks to my "friends" doing this........

Amateurs. The bottle of water doesn't have to be full. Good stuff though.

Glad I could inspire you Kevin.

You guys are awesome. Saw this thread yesterday morning, and then got to demonstrate the technique that afternoon at a 4th of July parade when the beer in the family cooler was assumed to be twist-offs, so we had no opener. My extended family was impressed that I could open a beer with a 20oz bottle of Coke. :)
