I took a tour of RTP avoiding as much of it as I could. Added about 30 minutes to my commute home from Cary to Durham. A co-worker of mine lives in Parkwood, I don't want to know how long it took him to get home tonight.

I live in Parkwood and oddly enough with a slight detour my commute from Raleigh was only about 10 minutes longer than usual.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

wouldn't you think someone might of thought to get a pair of binoculars and looked at this thing before they shut down a major interstate?

hell they had helicopters taking video of it, some high def zoom could have avoided this panic i would think.

plus they were evacuating retail stores at the mall. maybe blue foam means dirty bomb in terrorist speak...............

What was supposed to be the trigger? Looks like a bungee cord in that pic. I didn't know they could be used to dentonate a bomb.

All the way to the bottom. Apparently a cop was shot during this fiasco. I hope this was an accident instead of a prank.

The same thing would have happened here in the DC area, especially around a holiday. There is a lot of fear about IEDs, warranted or not.

Tom, respectfully i don't think we can compare DC to RaleighWood. call me naive, and we would all be heralding the response if it turned out to be real, but couldn't they have taken a closer look first?

It might be a little different here, yes.

Should someone have taken a closer look? yes.

Would that someone have known a foam bumper off of a boat trailer from what they thought was a bomb? Dunno.

It doesn't take much to make us hysterical these days.

agreed. what i'm now wondering is why the complete opposite end of the spectrum response from the call the day before?

completely ignore the situation to mass panic? and if someone did respond yesterday obviously agencies are not talking to each other.

some things never change.

Purple pool floaty cut into sections + white duct tape + bungie cord = triangle craziness
