COLUMBIA - The funeral service for Rodney Keith 'R.K.,' 'Keith,' 'Bear' Clonts, 58, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bear died June 4, 2010. Born December 8, 1951, in Columbia, he was a son of Albert Clonts and the late June Driskell. He graduated from Airport High School, Class of 1969, and was a member of Broadacres Baptist Church in Cayce. The owner of Bear Essentials Auto Restoration, he had won several regional racing championships of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), S.C. Chapter. In addition to being a race car driver he was crew chief for Larry Wilson, and Ron Monfils Misfit Racing.
Surviving, in addition to his father of Cayce, are his wife, Hazel C. Clonts of Columbia, brothers, Bruce Clonts, Barry Clonts and his wife, Mary Claire, all of Columbia, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his loving stepmother, Betty Clonts, and sister, Cindy Burrows.
