Does anyone have any advice/experience with storing cars offsite, as in an enclosed warehouse or similar location? I'm looking to free up some garage space, and while I'd like to sell both the M roadster and the E30, I know the market is too soft at the moment. Would be nice to rent some space or pay a business/facility that specializes in this sort of thing to store my cars. I checked some the local self-storage places, and the prices were pretty exorbitant (or so it seemed to me--$100/month for a closet sized storage space.)

Anyone have some hints?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Do you need space for a new car? :)

Some storage places allow you to pay a drastically reduced fee just to park the car/truck/camper outside but within their gated facility. Not sure if that is something you'd consider.

one word..... proper ventilation. i stored a car in FLA inside a land/sea type container once. bad mildew issues.

i have some exterior fenced in space in Angier i could see being much cheaper than $100 a month. how long do you forsee needing the space?

well, I'd like to have space should something follow me home, but my lot in town is narrow and doesn't allow for much expansion or addition of the fabled garagemajal. Also thinking about renovating the garage and would need to store the cars somewhere else while work is being done, would prefer not to leave them outside if at all possible

I've never heard of a market too soft to warrant paying for storage. Dude, cut your losses and move them now. The value on a car just isn't likely to go *up*. Hold for a little while? Maybe. Go up? Never seen it happen with anything but true collectibles.

(edit: I poorly phrased my original post...sorry. )You misundertood me, so perhaps I should clarify. I don't need to sell them...I don't really want to sell them. I do, however, have an itch to get a different car but can't since the garage is full and I'd prefer to keep only my DD outside. Previously my main thought has been to sell them in order to make room, but I don't find that idea palatable. So I posed the question about whether anyone knows about storage facilities for cars.

Along the same lines, does anyone have experience looking for industrial warehouse space to lease/buy?

Link is now to today's paper. The previous link was to Thursday's business page with an article about vacant Nortel space.

Eric H is looking to get rid of his garage rental in FV. It's at a small airport, holds 3 cars plus has a work space. I think rent is pretty cheap.

Thanks, Marty...that's in line with what I'm envisioning..FV may be sorta far but it's certainly a good first start. Could you PM me his contact info?
