With regards to the level of contact let go in the NCAA torunament, I agree whole heartedly. The game is getting TOO physical. To see Duke accused of being overly physical and pushing the envelope is pretty laughable to me though. Duke has gotten bounced in years past because they weren't physical ENOUGH. Thats why you've seen such good performances by the Big East in years past. If you want to see teams pushing the envelope, look at Pitt last year, look at UConn last year, look at Purdue this year. The knock on Duke in years past was that they were "soft". Now we're too physical.

We agree completely here. I wasn't saying Duke was overly physical overall, just that they like to set moving screens. You have to be a master of that kind of thing to beat a Pitt, though, because if you don't do SOMETHING to get free they're going to muscle you all over the court.

So yeah, we agree in general.

Donnie,
What does it matter the RPI path of past Championship winners or if previous year champs would beat them? I am pretty sure Every UNC and Duke NCCA champ team could beat this one, except maybe the 93 champs who were a lot like this Duke Team, good players who all knew their roll.

What matters is they took advantage of the situation and won the NCCA Championship. 5 years from know know one is going to remember if they had an easy road or what the RPI path was, all they will probably remember the Duke Beat Butler.

Maybe Duke fans are being oversensitive, but it seems everyone wants to nitpick every detail of this Championship to make it seem like less of an accomplishment. This Duke team is not the most talented team to win an NCAA title, put I think they are a great Team, with no true superstar, much like the team the Patriots had in their 1 SB win.

David, that's an easy question. It's because that's what fans of rival teams do to make themselves feel better. Duh.

But if you agree with the general sentiment, don't worry about the detractors...because at the end of the day you're exactly right. They're the champs. They played great to win it, and they had no control over who they played to win it. But they did their jobs.

Hopefully this stung pretty good to the RIGHT people in Chapel Hill and we can get back to our winning ways for next year. Then at least we'll have some good Duke/UNC games again. Duke will still be pretty good next season, that much we know (though how good hinges on Singler's decision...but even if he leaves they're still going to be good enough to give UNC plenty of game). I'm sad that we have to wait so long again for the next season. :(

Congrats to Duke on a great run and championship. I can utter those words through gritted teeth, since "Some of my best friends are Dukies".

At least it's over. This little clip has been running through my mind since Monday night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLyX4DbE6Hc
