You must be talking about different kids than I've seen.

The majority of kids will grow-up to be perfect little taxpayers. There are of course exceptions to every rule.. :D

This is my pet peeve. Kids are the excuse for raising taxes, providing more cops, for road accidents, for more trash being generated and subsidized by society and people think that there should be no additional cost p/kid. It should be borne by society. That sounds like Progressivism and Socialism and that is what has started the downfall of our society. People need to bear the brunt of their increased costs on society for their actions and not make the rest of us pick up after them

Rob, you do realize that the little kids that you're paying for an education for will eventually be paying your SSN, Medicare, etc...

Just consider them an investment. :)

If they weren't using kids to justify raising taxes, they'd just pick something else. like healthcare. They always find a way to get people to sign up for a tax increase.

Pay for my M/care, SS, or anything? Yeah, right. Every generation has less and less concern for society as a whole and more and more concern for themselves in singular. The ones who would supposedly "pay" for my M/Care will probably vote themselves in office so they can repeal paying anything other than themselves. Course it probably won't matter, we will be slaves to the Chinese by then.

+1 rob. although there are plenty of other things to blame for the downfall of our society. personally i put the increasing dearth of manual transmissions near the top of that list :)

i listen to npr semi-regularly, and quite a bit of it the last month or two as i've spent lots of time driving to/from the track. several times, all different days/times/programs, i've heard people mention "the downfall of america" or words to that effect. "we're a great country, but not as great as we once were", etc. i don't recall hearing that sentiment much at all in the past, yet now it's becoming ubiquitous. interesting/sad/unsurprising/whatever...

so basically we are becoming just like the rest of the world then? all except that pesky heavily armed civilians part.

FWIW, i plan to buy a six speed manual eventually. and my reason is "it's for The Kid". 8)

Nicely done Steve!

Rob, you seem to be troubled by something. Well, here's a tip - don't watch TV or listen to the radio or visit a news website this weekend, because our Congress is getting ready to violate the Sabbath and your wallet.

Carlton, I'm very, very worried about you. You do realize you joined a sports car club? But since you're dead set on getting in my way in the name of fuel economy, have you considered taping the hood, trunk and door seams to reduce aero drag? Don't forget the windshield gasket and side windows. You can probably tape off the grill about half of the year. Hammer those bulging fender lips flat, and .... moon discs and fender skirts! Don't forget to pump the tires up to a healthy 44 lbs.

Who's next? Did someone admit to listening to NPR?

oh you wanna talk speed difference. Now, truck drivers should know that they cant stop. I know, i drove one b4. (only lightly loaded though) but they seem to not behave well. however, the consequences for wrecking a truck are harsh. they tend to take your license for a while. They should know that,
the fact that they dont bothers me. Though try getting on to a ramp and accelerating down it, with a vehicle as glacially slow, as a 18 wheeler.
With a limit of around 60-70 mph. As well as a gear box that the lower gears, are below 10 mph, and you have a real feeling of oh my, am i even gonna make it. 500 hp for 20 tons, that is not really all that much. Our big white truck, is not really fast either. It runs out about 70 mph, but at least it pulls strong. You guys really need to feel what slow is, ask my father his first car was a bug.I am sorry that people drive like fools.Yes if you were wondering... jake brakes are seriously loud!
