Last few times we hired people it was *shocking* how bad some of the resumes were, and how poor some people's interview skills were as well.

Isn't it amazing? Most of the time you can attribute it to being underqualified and the rest being just lazy...

Honestly, I'm thinking about shifting gears too soon after eight years in the playground industry, which includes working weekends which is now a major bummer now that I'm a new dad. :(

Plus weekends off would allow more than five autocrosses a year. Woo!

hmmnmn, cold call sales experience Mr. McGrain? i could use a good bushwacker with proven sales history. walk on rug five days a week?

Rodney,
I don't have a lead for your son, but I'll be happy to review his resume for him. Helping others rework their resumes has become a favorite pastime of mine. :)

I will absolutely take you up on that offer. Please PM w/ an email address I can forward it to.

Thanks Chris!!!!

Just thought I would throw my name out there as well. I graduated in December with my BSN and passed boards in January. I also have a BS in Molecular Biology with a Chemical Physics minor. Any help would be appreciated!

If anyone knows of new-college-hire jobs in Computer Science in the Triangle area, I would appreciate the information. My son, Andy, graduated in December from UNC with dual majors in Computer Science and Physics with a Chemistry minor. High GPA, took MCATS and did fantastic, but at the moment has decided now to look for a programming job in this area as opposed to med/grad school. He's been programming since he was ~12, lots of Linux experience, etc.

We've got a job opening for someone with that background. Have him send his resume to me at czei@webperformance.com.

A UPS route is basically a timed course so be sure to include your points standings and some on track video with your resume.

I’m thinking of an alternate strategy for Jordan and his job hunting. I’d like for him to look at some temp agencies in order to get some experience. Does anyone have any insight into some of the better agencies? I figure if he can get a few 6mo to 1yr contracts somewhere, he’ll at least start getting some work experience.

Jordan will graduate w/ a mechanical design and industrial design degree and a minor in business. Any leads you can throw my way would be much appreciated!!

One of the Raleigh based car dealers will soon have a job opening for someone with an accounting/finance background. Definitely not a college grad level position but will probably pay $25-30K a year plus benefits.

PM me if interested .

25-30k? How do you live on that? That's roughly 1800 a month after taxes. I appreciate the info on the job, but that is not really a decent salary as far as I'm concerned.

I hate to be harsh, but this is the same attitude that has kept both my brother, a top 10% of his class Duke grad and my father in law (previously executive editor of Nascar and Circle track magazine and previously marketing director at performance friction) out of a job for 1.5 years and counting.
