In case any fellow mechanical engineers got bitten by the layoff bug, there are two openings at work here (Pentair Water Pool and Spa) in Sanford available in our Continuation Engineering group. Shoot me a resume or let me know if you're interested.

Title updated to be more general.

My company has a project engineer position open too. C or C++ and visual Basic Programming skills are required.

Other positions we have available are:
Staff Accountant
Payroll & Benefits Coordinator (part-time)

And we are about to have two additional positions a logistics position and a new outside sales position.

Send me your resume if you are interested.

Well, while we're putting out the word, RTI has 76 openings just here in RTP- management, public heath, chemists, statisticians, and a lot more.

It's a good company, and we're building.

edit: Please feel free to list me as a referral if you apply...

Might as well throw this out there too. We're looking for another Network Engineer at my place. "Network Engineer" covers a broad spectrum of things that this group takes care of but we're looking more towards the syadmin/monitoring/operational support side of things for this position. Programming ability is a huge plus. The company is bandwidth.com on Weston Pkwy in Cary.

If you match some of the alphabet soup below shoot me a PM with your resume or feel free to ask some more questions about the position. Roughly in order of what we care about.

Linux admin, SNMP, Nagios/Zenoss monitoring, Google web Toolkit, Java, Solaris admin, Opensips, Sonus GSX/PSX, SIP.

when you say you can't do FT, do you mean you can't work 40hrs a week, or you can't take a permanent job.

if you can do 40hrs a week, but just want contract work, send me your resume (cbrownrace AT hotmail)

both, sort of. i run my own IT consulting company and have a number of regular clients that i take care of, but this type of work tends to happen in spurts so the amount of spare time available to me varies from week to week. i'll shoot you an email in a bit.

We would need someone FT, there is easily an extra 40hours a week of extra work to be done.

My son Jordan is about to hit the job market, so I thought I'd ask here for help first. He'll need an entry level job. He'll have a BS in mechanical design, industrial design w/ a minor in business. He's a solid B student.

Any body have any leads for him?

ANYTHING is appreciated.

Rodney,
I don't have a lead for your son, but I'll be happy to review his resume for him. Helping others rework their resumes has become a favorite pastime of mine. :)

Rodney - definitely take up the offer, and see if he can get some practice interviews somehow.

Last few times we hired people it was *shocking* how bad some of the resumes were, and how poor some people's interview skills were as well.

Isn't it amazing? Most of the time you can attribute it to being underqualified and the rest being just lazy...

Honestly, I'm thinking about shifting gears too soon after eight years in the playground industry, which includes working weekends which is now a major bummer now that I'm a new dad. :(

Plus weekends off would allow more than five autocrosses a year. Woo!
