I'm pretty sure you can upgrade to 2G of RAM for less than $40. Is this a desktop or laptop?

www.newegg.com

Now that's more like it! This is just an old lap top that we keep photo's, my ipod, and web surfing on. I just want it to work right. If 40 dollars will get it there it's done. I thought the 200 was crazy. So is all 184 pin ram going to fit? Is it all the same?

All that said, I have now tried Chrome. So far it seems to be superior to IE and FF. Only one day and a few web searches so we'll see.

Laptops use 200 pin SO-DIMMs. Look up the model number to see if the motherboard is DDR or DDR2 compatible. Also, when picking a speed, there is usually a max speed that a given MOBO can handle. If you put faster in, it will work, but only at the speed that the MOBO can handle.

There are a lot of 2x1G DDR2 533 sets for $40-$45.....DDR is a bit more expensive (more like $60-$70) for 2G.

So you need 184 pin DDR memory. It's mobo handles up to 333 MHz (PC2700) but you won't likely find memory that slow any more, but if you get P3200, it will be limited to 2700....anyway. Looks like it's going to be more like $60.....better than $200 I guess :).
