Speaking of Movado :D : I have a 6 year old retirement stainless Movado SE which I never wear.

The battery is dead. Do the watch batteries leak or can I leave it in indefinately?

Also, it has one of those metal link bands that has visual tabs that fit into notches in the watch case. I do NOT like those kinds of bands (plus the band has a UL logo in it and I don't want to advertise the company that dumped me after almost 30 years!!! :x ) Are there other more flexible bands that can look good with this kind of "notched" case? (Twistoflex is my favorite  )

SE except without the notch: http://www.movado.com/Details.aspx?Id=c ... 789&page=0

Here is a link to a page which shows the notch (but not my exact watch). I see leather bands with tabs for the notch.

FYI my daily watch is a Robic and my fancy wear watch is a $30 Timex. Obviously I'm not a jewelery guy (except for a wedding ring).

I'm sure any battery will leak eventually, though I've seen less of this with button batteries. The battery in my ~1980 vintage Citizen died around 1985, and since I had a working wind-up watch, I didn't bother to replace it. In 2005 I stumbled across the watch and put in a new battery so that I could use it again. The old battery had not leaked.

Also, last time I checked, the button batteries for the Kodak Instamatic my grandparents gave me in 1970 have not leaked.

Yes, they do leak. If you plan to shelve the watch, have it removed. I will remove it for free or replace it for $6.

David,

Thanks for the info and offer.

However, since your Wilson store is open only on weekends (sounds reasonable to me since I don't work weekends either :) ), I'll look for a trust worthy watch "guy" in Raleigh.

Dick

I wanted to mention that I sent a Seiko watch to David and he did a great job, quick turnaround, good price. I'll definitely be using his business via mail for any watch work from now on. Highly recommended :)
