Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I really liked it when he kept revving it up long after the clutch was obviously toasted. Award 1,000 style points!

I really like that his "friends" just stood there and let him toast that clutch.

^Agreed. Who needs enemies when you have friends like that. That's just painful to watch.

The bad thing is...... I have done something similar. In a moment of stupidity, I was going to do a burnout with four people in our convertible Cobra -- with the BFG Drag Radials on the car. The clutch was never quite the same after than, LOL, and ended up shattering a couple thousand miles later.

Live and learn. Better yet, learn from others stupidity.

I can honestly saw that I've never done a burnout (I've driven FD car mostly albeit), but after watching this ignorant, testosterone-fueled fellow, I have no desire.

What did he do wrong? I'd imagine the process is:

put in 1st, rev, lift clutch, shift to left foot brake quickly, and keep revving?

I think the best part is the mention of tossing away $600. He should probably add a zero at the end of that...

Supposedly that's what happens in those cars if you try to do it with all the traction control stuff on. The first wheel slips, brakes get applied to stop it, and the traction control "waits" for the power level to drop to an acceptable level again. Only it doesn't in this case. Who keeps trying like that?!?

I hope they didn't put a $6000 clutch into a vette.

It's not uncommon for higher hp cars to sacrifice the clutch to save the rest of the hardware in the presence of stupidity.

Even the old DSMs had a little damper in the clutch line that would slip the clutch if someone tried to dump it.

That is exactly what will happen with a C6 with traction control on and the brake firmly applied. Fortunately, I don't have any experience. :)

I would much rather have that happen, than this:

I sure am glad I've never done a burnout because that would make me ignorant and testosterone-fueled!
