I didn't say that, but it is true. How did you change the quote?

I know Cline's neighbors would love my old truck.

I don't have an HOA and a few of the neighbor's places aren't what I would like them to be for property value purposes however one thing to keep in mind is "what sort of new neighbor do you want to "encourage" to move in?"

FYI I park an open trailer, small RV, and a 25 year old car outside my house (with two car garage) and small shop/2 car garage. Plus the house and shop are unpainted cedar, we have a 1/3 acre pond, and a couple of acres of the property is woods with lots of tree trunks left over from Fran and the big ice storm in 2002. We do keep the grass areas mowed and healthy (too much of that darn stuff). No HOA neighborhood for us. :)

Cline lives on the wrong side of Greenville. We don't have an HOA in my neighborhood, but I have had Code Enforcement write me warning tickets twice. Once was because a neighbor was trying to sell his house and just couldn't come ask me to move my old truck. So, since that 1966 1 Ton flat bed is licensed and insured. I moved it closer to his house. I moved it every 3 days so it would not get ticketed. He called the police, but they told him it was legal (and quite ugly). I'll be happy to bring it over today
The second time was because the officer was just driving by, but that is another story.
Like Mike, a little car work and a few loads of mulch in my old truck have gone a long way in keeping neighbors off my back.
I really don't understand why neighbors can't just talk out their concerns.
I'll bring my Camaro over too and leave a 100+ ft burnout down the street. Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMMO7esTTVo
Skip to about the last 25%. That is the good part.

isn't that a s2000 start button at the 2:51 mark in your video?

and yes i am bored, stuck in a hotel room until the roads are cleared tomorrow :)

edit: never mind, i get your last post. you installed a honda button *because* chevy doesn't make one, not that one wasn't there. still that's gotta make the bowtie faithful unhappy.

We have a 2 page covenant. It says something about not raising cows, pigs, sheep, or chickens... There is an HOA. They take care of the entrance to the development to keep flowers and whatever. We pay <$100/year HOA.

Well a few years ago, the then HOA people. They get a complaint from a neighbor. I have an 19ft runabout boat on a trailer parked along side the garage. It is obscured from the street by trees. Short of being at just the right angle. Some busy body complained and I got a call. So I fixed that. I parked it right in the middle of the driveway for a few days. I got another call. They decided the side of my garage was perfect and were hoping I would put back where I had it

Even better. One of my neighbors up the street buys a sailboat. Good sized one. Parks it on the side of his garage like I did. So I'm talking to him telling him about the noise I heard about my runabout. He laughs and shows me a letter from the HOA about him getting that thing in a dock and off the property. He says, it's staying right where it is, and I have something special for the HOA. Just wait a couple of weeks. So a couple of weeks later I go to see him for this surprise. He put Christmas lights all the way up the ropes that hold the masts from stem to stern... Flips on the lights. It looks awesome. We fell over laughing. The HOA and other whiners had a cow...

I actually don't like the trailer parked there, blocks the circular part of the drive to get really fast exits when the wife is pissed, but I have been meaning to work on the electrics. I caved, and moved it to my office where I regularly keep if and has the added benefit of pissing of the people who own the building with me. Thats better because that keeps them from talking to me!

The ironic thing is I think the lady who called my had the hoa call her a couple of years ago as she and her husband had taken it upon themselves to put 4in white pvc sewer pipe up vertically every 3 ft around the island in the culdesac to protect the scrawny azaleas that don't need protection. Her husband is this big military type who never wears anything but shorts and a golf shirt, no matter the weather, will play golf in 39 degrees. I want to ask him if he has frozen his balls off and he can't talk to me( we have gotten into it before and I am told am very intimidating when I get mad) or if he thinks he wife is a fill in the blank as I do

That's a pretty cool video Walter. I like the good example that you are setting for our youts (My Cousin Vinnie reference.)

Especially the part where you lay down the stripes on one of the campus roads!! :D

EDIT - To stay on topic. Eff HOAs! My HOA can kiss my ass. They tried to "fine" me for having my grass get 4" long. The only reason it got there is because some jackass up the street stole my lawn mower. Screw them. Damn, I want to move to a new neighborhood!!!

Cline you should have just thrown some Christmas lights on it and called it santa's race car trailer. or better yet told your neighbor it was full of presents for underprivileged children.

i manage to keep 3 cars parked in front of my apartment building and still dont know how i manage to fly under the radar, let me know if you would like me to bring some of my fleet over. between Walter and i we could make it look like you've got one hell of a party going on over there.

We have an HOA too, but like Graham's it is pretty mild. They are not too invasive. My feeling about them is that if you move into a neighborhood with an HOA, then you know it and know that they have rules. If you don't want to have restrictions, then don't move to a neighborhood with one. Doing so and complaining about the rules is the same as people that move to a house in the flight path of an existing airport and complaining about the planes, or moving near an existing racetrack and complaining about the cars making noise.

isn't a Yankee moving South automatically granted the right to complain?
