Oh man I hope the RX-8 isn't in jeopardy Noah. That manhole cover was absolutely ridiculous.

Either way, after co-driving Matt Milford's Ap1 in Fayetteville, I really dig the Suzuka Blue because it's semi-rare, at least compared to Silverstone. That's a good value with the hardtop too.

That Suzuka AP1 looks like an awfully good deal. It actually makes me wonder what's wrong with it. I happen to really like Suzuka, blue interior and all. It was my first choice, but I never did find a good Suzuka AP2 when I was shopping. I found zero, as a matter of fact, and became convinced that Suzuka was an AP1-only color. Turns out that's not true.

That stinks about the RX-8 man. I didn't see that on FB until I just looked for it a moment ago. What part of Weaver Dairy?

I've been contemplating selling my 2001 w/ 127k miles if you want something cheaper. Its in good mechanic shape and I just installed a new robbins soft top. Paint is decent, but the front bumper has a few rock chips.

Damn Les and Rodney for spreading the AADD.

Sorry to hear about the RX8.

The one the OP posted has already sold as well as the blue one. Drove the other sizer one and have it at Janko for a rundown to see what it needs. At very least it needs tires and clutch master/slave cylinder, and there is a gap in maintenance documentation from ~48K to ~71K. I thought it drove well, though the clutch issue was obvious.

I'm looking at this this morning: http://goo.gl/fA0Oa A retired gentleman owns it from Creedmore, but he's meeting me at Northgate near my house, score!

Also, yeah, I am looking for an S2K because of this: https://picasaweb.google.com/1084619839 ... 7745949266

Currently working with Yates Construction's insurance company on all this. I think it's totaled. Also Michael answer your PMs :)

Wait, you tried to drive over that thing? At least tell me it was at night, or underwater or something that kept you from seeing it. Not that they should have EVER left it like that of course.

Just to further emphasize how ridiculous this road is: In my wifes Accord (on stock suspension....so more ground clearance than most non-SUVs), I was even slaloming around the 5-8 of these water pipes that are exposed on Weaver Dairy....if I were in the BMW, I'd be driving in the left lane....complete BS.

EDIT:

I think that's all you need for your claim with their ins. company. If they went out a day or two after the incident and pulled that, then I think they are admitting guilt. I'm pretty sure my E46 would hit something over those and it is not lowered so they can't play the low car bullshit.

judging by picture I would say day time and one of those crappy situations where this pipe should have never been THIS high sticking out of the road.

FWIW, I keep my RX8 in stock class rather than lower it, etc because I like that I can go over speed bumps, tough entrances of business and don't have to do the lowrider angled approach and can go over speed bumps without worrying about getting high sided. I can't swear I wouldn't have made the same mistake by "assuming" it was the normal 2-3" above the pavement height you would typically see in this type of road construction.

I agree, however, this one came out of nowhere and I couldn't dodge it due to oncoming traffic. I slowed down, but not enough. I was only doing ~30MPH due to the construction zone.

First and foremost, I hate getting these calls because I feel bad for most people. I will say that my company fixes 75-80% of cases like this. The other 20 to 25% are folks trying to pull a fast one.

Those water valves HAVE to be that high to meet the final surface but I'm going to guess they adjusted it and planned on not leaving it for long then the rain screwed things up. They should have put the asphalt around it regardless and/or closed the lane off.

The City generally isn't going to do anything, if its a DOT road, they aren't doing anything either, this is all on the contractor performing the work, they technically "own" the road while its under construction. I'm sure this isn't their first time dealing with this but do not settle for less than you are comfortable with. Do you know who the contractor is? If its a DOT job and need help finding out who to talk to, I can generally point folks in the right direction.

Noah is working with Yates (construction company) insurance folks. Trying to get a estimate but they have to go to the car since it's not drivable.

@Ryan, I have no doubt that they have to be that high. My qualm is that they have been like that for weeks. Usually when you see stuff like that the lanes are blocked off and the road is paved within days....not weeks.
