SOLD

2002 Subaru WRX Sedan, Blue, 156k, very good condition, modest upgrades - $6900

Image

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan, World Rally Blue on black interior, 156k miles, very well maintained, adult enthusiast owned, modestly upgraded for power, reliability, and fun but comfortable street driveability. Practical, roomy, fast, looks good, but does have some minor cosmetic flaws. Great in the rain (and probably snow, never had a chance to try that out). When I bought the car the clear coat was peeling pretty bad so I had the worst panels resprayed -- new paint looks great but the color was not perfectly matched to original. Hard to notice unless you know it’s there (see the pictures). Straight, mostly original car with a great history of frequent oil changes. I have maintenance records back to 10k miles. Zero mechanical issues except what is noted below. Drives great and is very reliable.

This has been a great fun car to own and improve over the last few years and I absolutely love driving it. Makes great power with little turbo lag, firm shocks with stock springs and an upgraded rear swaybar makes it responsive and handle well yet remain streetable and not punishing at all. Everything works as it should and it has been a great, reliable daily driver for me. I have prepped it with the intention of being able to track, autocross, or rallycross it, but I ended up spending my time on other motorsports (ChumpCar) so I have never really driven it in anger.

$6900. Located in Cary, NC. Call 919-454-5445 or email whit32@gmail.com. Title is clear and in my name, and the car is available for sale now. See the picasa album for a whole bunch more pictures:

The good (all work within the last 15k miles)
New front control arms, balljoints, and STi bushings
New STi motor and trans mounts
New AGX adjustable shocks
New timing belt, tensioners, STi water pump, coolant
New radiator and hoses
New valve cover gaskets
New clutch, PP, and TO bearing
Upgraded STi oil pump
Near perfect wheels
Good factory stereo with subwoofer
No HG leaks
New Valve cover gaskets

Upgrades:
New painted OEM rocker panels
STi Exhaust (sounds good, not too loud at all)
Aux input on stereo (Jazzy Engineering)
Conservative open source stage 0 tune
Perrin 3” catted downppipe
Catless stock uppipe (good idea, saves the turbo)

Maintenance - too much to list, here are the biggies:
New windshield
Battery
AC lines and charge
Heater core
Recent leaking fuel line recall
New clutch slave cylinder

The bad:
Axles are new remans but one click and one leaks, should be replaced with EMPI (parts included)
Possible bad RR bearing (low frequency rumble, new bearing included but not installed, sound has not changed in 15k miles)
Worn tires near wear bars
Slight trans output shaft leak (no drips, not bad enough to do anything about)
Minor rear bumper damage (see pics)
Sun faded rear seat tops (see pics)
Two very small dents (see pics)
Steering wheel slightly worn (see pics)
Front rotors need to be replaced soon
Some spotting / sun deterioration on exterior rubber pieces
Some scuffs on rear door interior panels
Cruise control works fine but the decel switch is flaky

Extras
New HPS front brake pads
Micro usb power adapter hardwired close to phone mount
Trailer hitch installed

If so desired, I can equip the car with a wooden steering wheel, shift knob, and e-brake handle.

Price drop + I unbundled some things that were going to come with the car.

Someone come buy it! I'm running out of room!

wrx is fun in so4 at wilson. i got 4th last time out, on very worn street tires and stock build. someone buy it and rally cross it. so4 is a huge class, lots of competition. me as well for next season at least, and sometimes Jan in Sebastien's blue bugeye. Marek beat me bad in his audi last time out! Funny that was a high speed course, but he got me good. I hit lots of cones though, so it does not help. Some one buy it at hte next rally cross! Mike I will be there this weekend to help with the bus, someone rallycross it! 8) Oh and with the right tires, they are unstoppable in the snow. Just wash the bottom regularly to prevent rust, due to salt.
Mine has snow and mud tires, so it really did well. They need to be replaced though. Bridgestone potenza mud and snow.
