Agreed, I've always liked a red and tan combo, but the wood still has no place in that car, replace the wood with silver and it would look much better.

As I suspected a full view of the interior would tell a different story. And the color looks better. I am jealous Mike!

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I love that color combo, Mike's photo looks a lot better than the one the seller provided earlier. The only part of the interior that doesn't appear to match perfectly are the floor mats, and that's not unusual for tan interiors.

Exterior is shaping up nicely too. Couple of paint blemishes that I'll either have fixed or just live with. Got back from a long drive to get inspection and plates, easily the most rewarding driver's car I have ever owned. The power curve puts the S2000 to absolute shame (for spirited street driving).

Couple of things I have noticed driving and arrest-me-red-originally-$80k-sports car:

1. Everyone keeps looking at me. Lots of swiveling heads, it's kind of fun.
2. Including every cop within a 10 mile radius
3. People get the hell out of your way
4. After they get out of the way, they speed up to follow

Car looks great including the tan interior and the wood trim! Of course my first and second sports cars (Datsun Z and Lotus Europa) had similar tan interiors and the Lotus had a wooden steering wheel and dash. My new Mustang has a dark "saddle" interior.

Keep in mind that some of those people who look at your car may "follow you home" to case the house for future burglary since $80K cars imply "member of the 1%" with lots of "stuff" waiting to be stolen.

FYI my wife gets lots of looks in traffic when she drives our laser red 1997 Mustang GT.

It drives even better than it looks, and it makes wonderful noises. :)

I definitely don't hate it. I mean it's the same color combo (basically) as the ZHP I just sold. I *prefer* black interior on a red car (which is what my Cayman has), but the tan doesn't suck. The wood sucks, but if it bothers Mike then it won't take long at DC Automotive to find something better to swap that stuff to.

I do *really* like those particular wheels on that car. Any backstory on how the previous owner dented them that bad? And I should have said this in my email, but I have had great service out of Wheel Enhancement. I've only bought a couple used sets, but they are DEFINITELY as advertised. Prices are competitive usually, though not *great* or anything. Which is typical of good Porsche aftermarket shops. These guys are pretty small in terms of people and have been around FOREVER.

As an occasional track toy, I doubt you'll care that it doesn't have an LSD. And it DEFINITELY looks a lot better in your pics than the previous owner's pics. I know if you bought it that you got a good deal on it, and part of that might have been the PO's shitty pics. :)

Still looking for wheels?

I'm guessing you've probably already seen them if you're still looking, but.....

I'm not saying they won't work, but those are narrower than anything that ever came on a 996.
