Boxer (free)

My parents live beside a railroad track, near Fayetteville, and people always dump animals out. This one showed up today.

I think this is a boxer. It has a collar, with no ID on it. He is very friendly, and seems to know "sit".

He is thin and his coat is spotty so he needs some care. He was very scared when I found him today, so I would assume that he wasn't treated very well.

If no one wants him, does anyone know of a rescue group that would come to Fayetteville and pick him up. My parents cant commit to taking care of him.

i posted on nasioc too. about someone who wants a good dog for a good home. i hope someone can adopt this potentially great dog.

Thanks Pete. Maybe the owners will show up tomorrow looking for him, but since that has never happened before, I'm not counting on it.

This kind of thing makes me so mad. I think people who mistreat animals or are too stupid or lazy to take care of them should be spayed or neutered, seriously.

If we were not in the process of adopting a rescued German Shepherd, we might be in a position to provide a new home for this guy. Hopefully there's a Boxer rescue group that can help.

We are going to call the area shelters tomorrow to see if anyone has reported him missing. Maybe he is just lost. I've been reading and this breed is very nervous when they get lost so that is not necessarily an indication that he was mistreated.

I'm going back to my parents house this coming weekend and if I can find a vet that is open I will try to have him scanned for a microchip.

I emailed the German Shepherd rescue folks to see if they might know of a Boxer Rescue group in the area. I'll let you know what they say.

Have you run him by the vet to see if he is tagged with a microchip?

I agree with Bret but think that "humans" who dump animals need to be treated like they do their animals for a month as well

anyone who gets him... if you live in raliegh, can go to millbrook dog park. i am there with reba most weekdays at 10am or earlier, maybe 9.

A guy at work is going to my parents house on Saturday to meet him. He's going to take him if that goes well.
