SOLD!

Selling a 1986 BMW 325e converted to 325i specs and run in the Chump Car series. Nice cage by Chris Schimmel. Car is fully sorted and recently completed a 24 hr. event at VIR with no issues whatsoever. High level of prep with many new parts prior to the 24 hr. race. Huge spares package including second chassis, trans, diffs, wheels/tires, etc., etc.. Our team has dissolved so this will be liquidated for less than half of the build cost. Will provide more details to interested party. This car is fun to drive, puts down competitive lap times, and has very low running costs. You would be able to race the car this fall in Chump Car or Lemons events with minimal time/effort. Will help with setup information.

The car has a ChumpCar log book and we have documentation for an AIV of $475. The only thing we had to do during the 24 hours was add half a quart of oil at the break. The tires and brakes used in the 24 hour race could probably be use in a 14 hour race without any problem.

The car was prepared by Steve Card with help from Larry Hamaker, Jeff Bailey and myself. Steve likes to work on cars and has built and sold four or five track cars in the last few years. All of the buyers have been very happy with their car. He uses parts that I did not know even existed like zip ties with metal teeth and shrink tubing with glue inside.

I'd love to be part of a new team and take over this car. That was sorta the plan for next year.

So Mitch, have to ask. Why did you guys disband?

I may be willing to solve the no truck/trailer problem if someone buys it. Can't help with storage though.

I drove this car in the VIR 24.
The car was like an old friend after only a few laps. Easy to drive fast; very predictable in turning and braking.

I won't be buying/building another racecar at this stage in my life, but someone(s) need to buy this package. It is solid and bullet-proof. Very well-sorted out.

In all seriousness...

I have been intending on getting into Lemons/Chumpcar in the near future (next year or two), but am generally ignorant as to what I should expect regarding my yearly budget (this probably would be a good topic for another thread). I am hobbled in that I can't provide things like trailer, tow vehicle or storage location (my garage is already full of another project car), but I consider myself to be pretty mechanically inclined, good at fabrication, a hard worker and maybe not an idiot on track (time will tell). I am not Daddy Warbucks, so "rent a ride" is likely out of the question for me.

If some type of new team was to form (maybe even to buy this car), please keep me in mind!

(Mitch and others, good luck on your sale!)

Richard

i have a truck/trailer but rarely use it at chump events since mike tows his camper and rob tows simon. so if anyone wants to race this car at chump events but can't tow it i may be able to help. and depending on the event will accept payment via a few stints behind the wheel, i like racing e30s :)

Richard I believe this has been covered in another thread.

I will tell you it's a lot more than you think just to compete. If you want to win, it's a good bit more.

Chris Schimmel does good cages, he did work on our cars as well. The bar in my sentra and the BMW are both his work. Look for our BMW 325is next year early. After Sandblast rally probably, of course.

Hey Mitch, will you take $500 for it?

$500 should cover Simon and all the various parts cars. Plus the paint is shiny.

It's way cheaper than a beach house or a boat (not that I can afford those either but it makes me fell better). I also have decided I don't need to worry about retirement, frees up a lots of money.
