but am generally ignorant as to what I should expect regarding my yearly budget (this probably would be a good topic for another thread).

Richard I believe this has been covered in another thread.

I will tell you it's a lot more than you think just to compete. If you want to win, it's a good bit more.

It's way cheaper than a beach house or a boat (not that I can afford those either but it makes me fell better). I also have decided I don't need to worry about retirement, frees up a lots of money.

Cline all you need to worry about is you wife's retirement...oh wait.

Sure, but I think they will try to pay her if she goes to work there. How will that work out?

I'd love to be part of a new team and take over this car. That was sorta the plan for next year.

So Mitch, have to ask. Why did you guys disband?

First, Jeff had to quit because of back issues (numbness in arm). So we no longer have an enclosed trailer to haul the car and spares.

Second, Larry moved to Atlanta so that only left Steve and me to work on the car.

Third, it was my first time driving at night and it was not fun and Steve hates driving at night. That leaves us with doing double 7 hour events. The only double 7 events left are Michigan International Speedway and Road America. Much further than we want to drive. So our first and only event would be at Road Atlanta next year if it's a double 7 like this year. Just not worth keeping the car for one event a year.

Fourth, I windsurfer but all my windsurfing friends have moved on to kite surfing. I tried to learn to kite surf and could control the kite but not the board. To control the board it helps to have experience surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding or wake boarding, none of which I have done. I plan to buy a small boat and learn to wake board and then give kite boarding another try. There is limit to how many hobbies you can have so I'm giving up ChumpCar.
