It sure would be nice if you could switch on the truncated URL links thingie so they don't cause the major scolling like in the following thread.

Most forum systems allow this feature AFAIK.

Thanks,

It's not a feature that's in the standard software package. You can add it as a modification, however we agreed that in order to reduce admin time spent on the boards, we would not add any modifications like this.

You are free to make your own short links by using the instructions found here.

Looks like std. code. Unfortunately most of us either don't know to do it, of forget. I'll be in the latter category now.

I'd have thought it wasn't a big deal to make that change. Another forum recently fixed it and seems he did it in a real short time. Guess I'm not clued in to what all this stuff takes.

Thanks anyway,

Steve

It's not a big deal to make that change. But then, since you made one change, you might as well make another. Then while you're at it, go ahead and make another.

On top of that phpBB releases a new code update every few months. Most of the time, their files rewrite the mods you made and you have to add those mods again.

Hence, we agreed we wouldn't add any mods to the software.

Hmmm.... looks like they coulda done that part different, like have a file that kept up with the options, mods, etc., but then they never ask my opinion. :)

Anyway you all keep up the good work like it is, we'll be happy.

Thanks,

Steve
