I was under the impression that we were supposed to sign up here with our given names for this forum. Lately I have noticed some odd names. We have Surabaykid and HONDAFIG. I don't think thier parents named them that way. You might as well let Peter Guthrie be Flipper. :D

I think those were just prople posting in the guest forum. Once (if) they become members, I believe that have to use their real names.

No Todd they were in the member list on the last page if sorted by joining date. mdl70, 69boo307, and pitchwoolfolk are still on the list. :D
Peter Guthrie is both forum members 141 and 303 must be a bipolar thing. :poke:

Pitch Woolfolk actually is his name. He races a yellow S2000 but the other two, I dunno. Maybe our standards are slipping.

As for Pete, you may be onto something there. :D (Just kidding Pete!!)

George,

Thanks for pointing those out. I think the policy of using real names has proven to be a great idea. Since we are a group of people that interacts with each other frequently, it really helps to make the forum conversations a much more pleasant experience.

My thanks go to Jason and Richard, who have the very tough job of enforcing these policies and maintaining the forum.

When I visit other forums with people I know, I spend so much mental energy trying to figure out who the crazy names belong to that it sometimes isn't worth the trouble to visit them.

Miles

I see we are getting people who are not regestering with real name again.
I read the user agreement again and I found noting in it stateing guidelines for user names. Maybe we need to revise it. When I first registered I remember reading something about using your real name as your user id. Was this an E-mail sent out?

Of course there were only about 35 users then.

I think if you watch the Memberlist data (which anyone can look at via link on top of page), you will see these from time to time. Anyone can "register" as a user. Their registration status is set to "Inactive" until someone (usually Jason) reviews their request. If they didn't follow the rules on User Names it will get an email asking them to fix the problem. We probably give them a few days to make this happen. If it isn't resolved, at some point the registration is deleted. All during this time they show up in the "Memberlist". But since they are not "active", they can't do anything.

Hope this helps.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

If they register, their name is going to show up and look like they can post. However, until me or one of the admins approve their membership, they can not do anything more than a typical guest can.
