For those that don't want to watch the most boring video ever you see the ZR-1 at the 15:40 mark.

One thing that the camera car isn't in any danger of hitting is an apex. Yeesh.

I like how the Cobra is being "held up" by a Volvo with a wing on it.

Jalopnik picked it up with a ton of closeup pictures of the aftermath.

Watch this guys video. He was following the ZR1. About 8:30 in they setup for the turn where the mess takes place. It's a pretty hard hit.

was that a standard gearbox the camera car had? those were some of the fastest and most abrupt shifts i've seen, especially down. but in a good way!

The ZR-1 driver certainly seemed like a novice driver. Consistently drove that corner wrong along and other corners as well.
I get the feeling he was intimidated by the Charger driver, getting pushed faster each lap until he blew the corner. The prior laps he was already hit the outside rumble strips.

He should not have been a novice, if I'm not mistaken it was a NASA event and they screen the comp school personel closely requiring at least thirty events before allowing you to take a comp school. And the vette didn't have the required orange sticker required for a novice racer displayed on the rear of the car. That means he had more than four races under his belt.

The write up on jalopnik indicates he got his license this year so perhaps the rules aren't as stringent for NASA northeast as they as are for NASA Midatlantic.
