Don't you notice the organizations that charge instructor fees always seem to be the ones that need instructors?

The event was fun last year, but it was very loosely controlled. For example, Brian Mark's student who happened to be driving an E39 M5 (green student, first time on track) was "interesting." The first time out of the pits there was a hurricane of receipts and papers whirling around the car being sucked out from under the seats and such. Then the student was experiencing trouble responding to braking instruction, so Brian drove the car and about lost it going into 1 at an easy speed. Student was asked: "When did you flush and bleed the brakes", answer, "what? Never since I've owned the car." :D

The net of it was that there was little checking for proper tech inspections and such. They didn't even collect tech forms from instructors and black group students from what I saw.

I think last year was a bit of a mess since it occurred right in the middle of a big shake-up in the personnel who were running their track program. They had to get someone from another PCA chapter (I think, not sure of the details) to come and take over at the last minute. It was something like that -- perhaps others who were there can chime in. I can say that the actual running of the event from my perspective in black group was fine. Everyone on course was courteous, no rule violators, etc. I enjoyed the weekend very much.

I have run with them several times, you will have a good time just realize that they are Pcar boys. Two things to know 1. you will see alot of "That Guy"s if you don't like seeing naked or partial naked men don't go. 2. be careful following those 911's to close, they tend to not want you to pass, drive with their mirrors then lift in turns and spin right in front of you. In my times with them I have had about 6 of those so be careful. Maybe since your car "looks" cooler and faster than mine you will get more points. Like all groups a lot of good people and few not!

Do it Marty. You'll be ok. I've ran White group twice at this event. It was fine both times, but was just a little too "adagio" for me last year - especially on South course because a lot of the drivers weren't comfortable enough to give you point bys when they should. I think this year they're running Grand East course on day 3? If that's the case passing will be even more challenging from what I've heard. Go for the Black group and passing should be fine. There's always a handfull of Tarheelers in attendance.

Chuck's right, they were in transition to a new team of leaders last year.

Marty signup and join us. There will be at least six THSCC BMW guys attending. I've done almost two events a year with them since I starts doing DE's five years ago. They run a very layback event but usually run on time and have very few incidents(Boxster's seem to be the biggest casualties).

I don't know how they do it but it's a good price for three days of track time. The only annoying thing is that if you are solo and not an instructor your car has to be teched each day.

yeah, I am in the Red Instructors group. Sent an email to Larry and Jeff Bailey. I didn't see you were signed up Mitch until after I sent the email. Trying to decide if it's worth going up and back friday or just head up early Saturday morning. Since I signed up so late I didn't make any reservations to stay, hince this post.

Yeah, we get to pay for the 'priveledge' of instructing for them. Um...I don't think so Tim.

You pay about 1/3rd fees and get 1 student instead of 2 students. Some instructors like the idea of instructing and having more time for themselves to do stuff. They are the only group that I know of that does this though.
