Here is a little / large video clip from this weekends NASA Pit Bull Brawl at CMP that I attended.

“91 Miata in DE 1, session 3 on Saturday. First time driving CMP so still lots to learn about the track.

Had a fantastic instructor with me, very patient and knowledgeable, handles a car pretty well too...Some of you might know his helmet design...:)

From the starting 2:20 lap times, we were down to the 2:12 – 2:14’s by this session and Sunday we dropped to the 2:06 to 2:10 range…

While I realize that we are not racing or focusing on time, knowing what it was certainly helped me see an improvement throughout the weekend.

The smoother laps where I felt more comfortable and relaxed turned out to be the faster ones, re inforcing what you all have been saying...

Going over the video many times is also letting me see mistakes, things I wasn't picking up while driving...

I also got to see a little bit of what this Miata is capable of, courtesy of a ride along. Very eye opening and extremely helpful for the Sunday sessions and my confidence level...

I have to say that the Traqmate data that I was taken through is really helpful in understanding what is going on when reviewed…A great learning tool in the right hands…Certainly helped me put the on course discussions into perspective...

Oh, look past the bad late braking going into turn 11 at about the 5:50 mark…

Enjoy…

Jon,

Nice video. I am curious as to what camera system you are using. I like the nice wide view of that video.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

The Video camera belonged to Mike Skeen, who drove with me this weekend...I believe it was a Panasonic HDC-HS9 with a .5x wide angle lens.
If he gets to read this, maybe he can confirm.

I already had a camera mount from I/O on my roll bar.
Not too much in the way of vibration dampening there, but didnt seem too bad.
Hope that helps...

Way to go Jon!

We'll see if we can't improve on that in June

Thanks Stacy...

I think the highlight for me was having Skeen drive my car and allowing me to see what it could really do. I had been tentative / unsure of its potential limits till that ride...

That in itself was well worth the weekend. Plus I have the Traqmate data from his drive for comparisons now and in the future...Something to shoot for...

Jon how about posting a link (or emailing to me) the traqmate data. If you have it from Skeen driving please send that too.

As long as you don't immediately go out and try to "be like Mike" just cause you know the car can handle it

Was he with you the whole weekend, or just a few sessions?

We worked together for the whole weekend...

He drove early Sunday morning before my first session.

I have something to aspire too...If I keep this up for another couple of years, I might challenge his speeds, smoothness, lines etc...:) I am under no illusions of driving that well, this early ( or maybe never )...

Right now...Seat time and learn as much as I can...

Car has plenty of room left for me in its current state.
