One area that has been skimmed over in the excitement of the win is the crew chief...... Ours was awesome, teams need to find someone dedicated enough to stand on a transformer box for fourteen and a half hours spotting and acting as crew chief. spotting was most impotant as it keeps drivers from passing under yellow and prepared for restarts....I believe I passed more cars on my restarts than I did in race driving all because I had Chris telling me when to get ready...then green, green , green. the only time a driver can see the flag station is on the front straight, it made a huge difference. calming down the driver was also a big plus for the team that was handled by Chris.. and of course for all this to happen you need good communications. Thanks Eric...and Sean, Kudos for your help in acting as runner/messenger/ photographer
I was thinking the same thing -- this was one of the big surprises for us actually. I don't think any of us planned for it but Tyler stood on a picnic bench for the whole day and stayed in constant communication. BOY was it neat to get the constant info.
FYI our radios and helmet speakers/microphone were crystal clear and the GMRS radios worked perfectly. Really was a good setup since it uses dual ear speakers.
