Now that bhp has gone out of business, what is the latest and greatest in track brake pads. Anyone going back to Carbotech? I've been pretty much following the THSCC sponsors lead for brakes (and been pretty happy), but now our sponsor link goes to a "Sorry were out of business" page.
Recommendations anyone?

Hawk HT-10. i hear the new DTC 70 is a good pad also. just ordered a set for the fronts. haven't used any PFC's lately but they were pretty good.

nothin' like a good brake pad thread to get the year started right.

i used to use HT-10's and 14's a few years back...good pads but, in my experience, they dropped off a little bit in stopping power after 2 race weekends...

i tried dtc-70's and hated them...

i switched to pfc-01's in mid 2006 and have been using them on my car since...the release characteristics of the 01's are better than any other pad i have used

i've used pfc 97's and 06's in endurance races...you give up some of the braking power of the 01's to get a longer lasting pad...we used 06's in our 13 hr car this past year (ITE e36 325 with stoptech fronts) and there was ~1/2 the pad material remaining after the race...also used 06's in a spec e30 (stock front brakes - tiny pads) for the nasa 8hr race at road atl and they lasted ~5 hrs i think...

i highly recommend the pfc pads...i've toured their plant in SC and was amazed at how tight their quality control is on all of their products....an added bonus of pfc 01's and 06's is that they dont require bedding....

I will second the PFC-01 compound. Most if not all of the CMC cars have switched to the Performance Friction pads. I switched last year and have been very happy.

The have a very nice linear progression which is very, very important with heavy (3280#) solid rear axle cars. Since I have added the brake ducts, one set can get me easily through three race weekends. They are constant through out the race and that is important to know at the end of a race.

I've heard/read good things about the PFC-01's also. They'll probably be what the Spec E30 runs (end of March debut?).

I have some Hawk HT10's & DTC70's I need to use up on the front of the SC'd Miata before I try something else.

I do need a less grippy rear pad for the SC'd Miata now. I am trying to address rear bias issues with F/R pad combinations and went through a pair of Hawk HP+'s on the rear in about 3 months - but the car stopped straight. When I ran stock brakes I could get something to last a year in the rear.

Maybe a PFC-97? I tried them as my very first track pads on the R-package Miata. Contrary to what I was told by a racer, they chewed up rotors like Hawk Blues. Maybe I got a bad set?

I ran Carbotech XP10s and XP8s this past year on my 99 Cobra and really liked them. For a 3600+ pound car and brake ducts, they do a great job in my opinion. Good life and good stopping power. Another reason I like them is because they are somewhat local for me.

I too have heard good things about the PFC01s and know a LOT of people that use them.

Charlie:

Right now I have to say PFC or Hawk. Brad was working on a relationship with PFC but it did not come off but their race pads have always been rated
one of the best, same for Hawk. Latest and greatest from either is the ticket if they make them for your car PFC02/03 or DTC70 from Hawk.
But even the PFC01 and Hawk HP10 are great racing pads.

I used PFC 01 and PFC 02 on the Corvette and I always
liked them and they seemed to last the longest on the heavy cars.
For the Scirocco I never stoped using HT10 from Hawk except
for the Pads I was able to get from Matt when he was still at BHP.

We are working to get a reationship with another brake vendor. It must
be someone who is willing to work with us as well as makeing great racing
pads that fit the cars we drive. PFC would be ideal of we can pull it off.

Cheers
Mark Vitacco

I get mine from http://www.speedtoys.biz Too many models of BMW's for me to search, but it looks like $179 or so. Same price as 01's for my Camaro. I have ordered directly from PFC too...they were $50 more a set than SpeedToyz.
