I'd like to start this entry with an apology to all for the oil I dumped all over turn 4 in the afternoon blue session. Seems a breather line at the oil tank popped off allowing a healthy bit of oil to slosh out of the tank and on to the track. I hope it didn't cause to much drama for anyone. I guess I have another thing to add to my pre-session check list.

That aside, it was indeed another great THSCC/TZC event. Mother Nature was not so cooperative Saturday morning, but the rest of the weekend was glorious!!! Thanks all for a great time!

Thank you to all the organizers and instructors! This weekend has to be the best time I have ever had legally with my clothes on!!! Nothing can top the feeling of nailing 8 and then hitting about 100 before the kink! I don't care when and where the next event is I WILL be there (and hopefully will be able to heel toe!)

For everyone that has thought maybe I will try it (Gwennie). TRY IT!!!

Nope, it's that "profile" you always talk about. You and Stacy have the same one. :P

Great weekend. I hate that Matt's car had some problems, so I didn't really get to test drive it properly. That's something to be revisited later I guess.

I worked skidpad both days. Everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - if you get the opportunity to drive on that skidpad, you should do it. There aren't many better ways to learn than doing so on a skidpad. There you can concentrate on interacting with your car for an extended period of time, without having to think about the next corner coming up on you, or traffic, or anything. It's a wonderful learning tool, and it's also great for playing with small setup changes. I think everyone who tried it came away a better, more informed driver.

CMP's is considerably larger than the one at VIR - I think CMP's is about 200' in diameter, with sprinklers along the inside to wet it down. The water coverage isn't quite perfect, but it's about as close as one can reasonably expect.

Also, regarding CMP in general, the place has come a very long way in the last year or two. The layout changes in T12 and T13 are welcome of course, but there's much more than that. More pavement in the paddock, garage bays, a nice timing and scoring tower, and of course the great skidpad all make it a much more enjoyable place to spend a weekend. The staff is also very attentive. For instance, after one of the sprinkler heads got run over at the skidpad, it was less than an hour before staff was there to replace it, verify its functionality, and then get back out of our way. I don't think we even told them about it - they just fixed it proactively. It's no wonder we had nearly 150 entrants for this event - it's a great place, while still retaining a "clubby" atmosphere.

Oh, I forgot my highlight from the weekend. I got to ride in Wes' Porsche 993 on Sunday morning. It's pretty much stock except for a nice track suspension, all the right safety kit, some large Hoosiers, some aero goodies, and a loud exhaust. Not only does the car sound absolutely terrific, Wes really drives it very well indeed. Glassy smooth and consistent, and none of the drama I'd been led to expect out of an air-cooled 911. It was a real pleasure. Thanks Wes!

Speaking of Wes' Porsche, those TeamTech 6-point harnesses are by far the nicest I've ever used. Very comfortable, the belt adjusters weren't at all "fiddly" (I think we've all experienced that), and the cams worked very well. My next track car will eventually get a set of them no question.

So, any results from the TT? I know there had to be at least a few cars faster than my Acura, but I'm curious how my 1:49's would have stacked up. It's 240HP and about 2650 with me in it. We were on two year old BFG R1's, though they were fairly "new."

If I recall, a 1:50 took FTD yesterday (Whitney's M3), but I think Wes was ~4 (or was it 6?) seconds quicker than that (and clean) Saturday.

Interesting. So the Exige didn't to the TT? He was quicker than me on Friday (not surprisingly...same HP, much less weight).

There's a nice porsche in the Swap & Sell section. Don't know how it compares to a 993 though. 8)

I know someone with track car that that is currently for sale that those TeamTech harnesses would go quite nicely in...

Seriously, my mechanic up here has the TeamTech's in his 951 race car, and they are, w/o a doubt, the nicest, most comfortable harnesses I've ever tried. I had them tight enough to make breathing difficult, and they still didn't hurt.

D@mmit...Jason whored up this thread before I could...

edit...

Karl, I'll be down in RTP around Halloween. I had planned to drive the wagon, but I could bring down the 944 if there was interest.
