I can't tell you how excited I am to be writing this...

Registration is NOW OPEN for the 1st (hopefully annual) Ross Bentley Speed Secrets Seminar Weekend

Hosted by Tarheel Sports Car Club, Triangle Z Club, and Asphalt Ventures.

September 6th & 7th, 2008 - Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, RTP

Saturday will focus on instructing and coaching drivers. Even if you've been instructing for decades, you owe it to yourself and your students to attend this seminar. You'll be introduced to new techniques and approaches that will enhance your instruction and your students' learning. Advanced drivers will get a lot from this seminar as well as it will help you get thru that developmental plateau on a more mental level.

* What instructing is really about (the student)
* Instructing vs. coaching
* How the driver's mind works
* Instructing techniques
* Common driving errors (and what to do about them)
* Much more, plus a Q&A session

Sunday will be geared towards the driver. The material will be useful for any driver of any experience level, and we urge everyone from the seasoned track/race veteran to the once-a-year autocrosser to attend. We also encourage instructors to sign up for both days... there will be some overlap, but most people welcome the review of what was covered in day one.

Some topics covered in Sunday's program:

* Performance - what is it
* How the driver's mind works
* Improving your mental performance
* Vehicle dynamics
* The mysteries of trail braking
* Using the end-of-braking point
* ... and much more

Registration is being done through the Asphalt Ventures MotorsportReg account, but the standard member discount (either 'THSCC' or 'TZC' entered in the discount code box) will be valid. Regular price (before discount) for the seminar is as follows:

- Saturday or Sunday only... $125
- Saturday AND Sunday ...... $200

Kick ass! In for Saturday. Thanks for putting this together Stacy.

I heard great things about the seminars from people who took it through BMWCCA.

Those of you who missed this really missed a treat. Ross is, not surprisingly, an excellent, engaging speaker, and I learned a bunch.

Thanks to Stacy and the gang for putting this together. It was a real pleasure.

x1

I was surprised there were only 2 gals there. I admitted early on to being the autocrosser (non hpde'r) in the room, only to find that Ross is currently writing a book devoted to autocross. Everything he talked about had direct connection to autocross so I never felt out of the loop. To those who didn't come, BIG MISTAKE!

I could not agree more ... while Sunday was a great seminar, Saturday was just outstanding.
After having knocked around the corporate "world" for 25+ years I've been to more seminars than I care to count. A fair number of those given by internationally "known" folks. None approached what we experienced on Saturday.
I would certainly support making this an annual event.

Kudos to Stacy for making this happen ...

Frank

Agreed,

It is rare that I go to a seminar and leave with many pages of notes of stuff I really want to remember and try as soon as I get out.

Thanks Stacy for a great event. I enjoyed Saturday very much, and it would be great to have Ross back at some time in the future.

By the way, who hasn't done their cross-crawls today?

I ended up with 19 pages of notes and drawings.... and I found myself looking back through them again today.

Great job, Stacy and everyone. Thanks for putting this together. Well worth the time and very informative.

Also, nice to put a few new faces with some names. Nice to meet everyone (again).

Kevin
