I'm guessing Carl thinks it looks pretty perfect right NOW. The rest of us? Not so much. :(

Yes and no.

Those buildings were OLD. Old buildings have fun stuff like asbestos that has to be abated. That stuff can take quite awhile. Given that some of the buildings were industrial, there could be other "fun" stuff inside.

Waiting for High Rock, is like waiting for the next Ice age. It ain't gonna happen in my life time. However another venue that might prove interesting is the reopening of the Hutchinson Island Indy Lights course in downtown Savannah apparently the Savannah chamber of commerce and the Ports Authority have already run some antique cars there and are talking to local SCCA groups to revive interest in the track. Is about the same distance as Roebling and I bet the managers are easier to deal with.

You have an amazing grasp of the obvious, Ryan. However the statement still has a semblance of truth. It might as well be the next Ice Age if I'm not around to see it. I bet when your my age you won't be HPDE'ing it on High Rock either.(I figure you won't collect on that bet)

Since High Rock doesn't appear to be going anywhere....

What would you guys think about a 3.5 Mile track around the Wilmington area?

Sitting on 1900 acres, and right off of hwy 17?

Just need about 10 Mill to buy the land, hire the designer, and build the track with a few buildings? Can we have a bake sale?

My humor was lost.

I agree I am not holding my breath waiting for a HPDE at High Rock.

It wasn't a mastodon. it was a neanderthal. I called him Steve because the zipper on his jeans were always rusty, his tennis shoes were yellow and he always had a Budwiser in his hand.

And we are worried about name calling on a political forum?

Make it a publically traded company and I will buy stock with my IRA. I would rather loose money on this than the other stuff I have, maybe this way I could get free track days.

Joking aside, I think a business case could be made for something near wilmington. I would never buy a condo at VIR. I can't see me saying "Hey Honey we are going to start taking all of our vacations in Alton Virginia because we have a second home there" Wilmington I could sell!

Exactly. The top of the craze of our times was likely marked by people wanting $500,000 condos next to a race track out in the middle of nowhere.

I was somewhat serious in that post.

About 3 years ago a plot of land came up and I threw around the idea. But it was mostly dreaming since 10 mill is a lot of money. It appears the track of land has come back on the market at a reduced price.

the land is only about $2.5 Mill, that leaves quite a bit to build something.
