....so if you need some, you should call me.

Hondas, BMWs, Miatae, Corvettes, Subies, many more, I gots em!

I would say "check our website for applications and prices" but sadly our website is not updated. We should fire our webmaster. But since that would be the owner's wife, that's unlikely to happen.

So feel free to call, email, or PM me about application and prices. THSCC members are getting a 10% discount. And if you want me to deliver to VIR, I'll do that no problem (you won't pay tax or shipping....)

BTW, DON'T call me tomorrow (Friday), I'll be occupied with other things. Call me Monday....

And on Monday, if you need brake pads, you should call Matt.

I use the "mildest" of the compounds on my S2000 and they are, quite simply, stunning. And the wear rates are so minor that I can't tell by looking at them that they're any different than they were when I put them on.

+1 for BHP pads

Street, AX, HPDE, they rock!!! WAYYYY easier to modulate than Hawk stuff.

Matt,

Couple of questions on the PR1, application is C5.

Website shows upper heat range to 1900F. What is the lower heat range required for them to work?

Can I drive them to/from the track?

Compared to Carbotech XP10 and XP12 -
How hard are they on rotors?
How do they wear?

Thanks, Graham

They work cold, lap 1. They do stop better with some heat, but you won't fly off the track on your warmup lap because they are cold.

I have driven them on teh street some. While I think they make lousy street pads (dusty, noisy, lock up street tires in a heartbeat if you arent careful) there's nothing really dangerous about driving them on the street. They don't wear themselves or the rotors any faster doing that. They are really touchy though.

Ha! You think XP10s stop??? PR1 is a modified NASCAR compound. Everyone whose has removed XP10 or 12 and replaced with PR1 has without question prefered PR1

Better than Hawk, not quite as good as Carbotech. Then again, C5 rotors are going to crack long before they "wear out". They all do. The T1 racers just buy the cheapest replacement rotors they can find and pitch them every weekend.

On par with Hawk and PFC.

I'm telling you guys, I'm really excited about this material. Nothing like this has ever been on the market for production-based cars. The owner (Tim) worked for Mintex and developed their Nascar formulations that kicked PFC and Hawk in the @ss. He really knows what he's doing with formulations.

I just ordered a set of PR1s from Matt. I'll let you know how they work soon enough!

Vincent,
Cool. You'll be out on the track much sooner than I will. Can you email your feedback after you get a weekend or two on them.

Matt,
Ok I'm interested. So I still have 2 complete sets of XP10 rears that I don't want to throw away. How about if I mix your PR1 in the front with XP10 in the rear? Dangerous? Ok?

I like the XP12/XP10 setup. Only complaint about XP12 is they wear really fast, too fast. I'd sacrifice more front rotors for better wearing pads. I use the same rotors the T1 guys do for that reason. They all crack. With full front ducting, including spindle ducts, it has helped get an extra weekend or so out of them.

Should not be a problem at all. PR1 should wear SIGNIFICANTLY better than XP12. Wear rate has been an issue with all of those compounds from day #1. We improved it a little, but never to what I was pleased with.

Matt if its the PR1 that were the last ones we tried on the CRX I have to say they were great! Easy to modulate and excellent wear. MUCH better then the other compound we tried which was just too much bite for such a light car. But I'm sure another excellent compound for the heavier cars (3000lb and up).

If you're needing pads I highly recommend you give BHP a try. You'll be pleased.

Ron

Ron,

Actually, you have it exactly backwards. PR1 was the first compound you tried at CMP last August. I believe we agreed that is was too strong for lighter cars. CR6 is what you sampled at the Rock. PR3 is somewhere in between the two.

PR1 is not availible for Hondas. Just too strong. The choices are CR6 and PR3.

Is the CR6 the same as the older CR1? or is it a new compound?
