Hey Cline, does your insurance agent know you race your car? You better be careful or you could lose your coverage :)

I have the MOMO Super Cup seats (before the redesign) from ltbmotorsports. Karl is right on the money about ltpmotorsports! I got mine on sale and then be dropped the price a little more and shipped free. I had them in two days! Plus we spent about 45 minutes on the phone going over the options. And I very happy with my seats...they fit me great and are very comfortable.

Do not skimp on the seat and get the equivalent one for the passenger. Hey, fair is fair for the passenger. I would not get into a car with a $200 passenger seat and a $700 driver seat.

I agree with Steve...build it towards some kind of SCCA or NASA class. Closely follow the GCR or CCRs. Otherwise you pretty much have a piece of junk no one will touch.

Momo Cup is what is in my car. A good, reasonably priced FIA seat (means no seat-back brace needed) that fits darn near everyone.

Is that a Cooper or an S? The NA Cooper just got classified quite well in ITB. We are building one for a customer as we speak!

I just picked up a RaceTech seat from CDOC at VIR. Competitive pricing, and they had a decent selection of seats to sit in. I totally agree with the "Sit before you commit" sentiment, it was amazing to feel the difference in all the seats. I was also able to bring it out to the car and prop it up in there to check its fitment (not too much extra space available in the cockpit of a 914). Gonna be a tight fit, a little surgery will be necessary....they *might* be in by CMP....time will tell.

Fix the car Cline....I know if you don't, you're going to get one of those "geezer-mobile" Corvettes, and I certainly won't be able to keep up with you in one of those.

Sorry about the car. Greenville has many really bad drivers. More than a few times I've seen some idiot coming at me and braced myself for impact.
Is the insurance adjuster lowballing you??

If you wanna try my Corbeau's out, give me a shout.

JK Motorsports also has some seats to sit in to try.

As this is turning into a seat thread....

Jason, how low do you think you can get this seat? You know my #1 issue for my seat is getting it low enough so I am under the cage that will be put in.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

The real question is are you all legs or all torso. That is the big determining factor.

I am going to mount it as tight to the floor as I possibly can (within a 1/4" or so), and it will have a slight rake to it (front of seat will rest on the crossmember). With this and the seat pad removed, my helmeted head will fit down below the roll bar about the same distance as it did with the stock seat(cushion removed). I got the 4009W (yes, W is for wide) model. I am going to have to do some bending of the e-brake handle, and also cut into and reinforce the seat crossmember and maybe even a little of the center tunnel as well. That's why I say they *might* be in by CMP....gotta make some sparks first! The passengers side will be easier to mount, more room to work over there....
Oh, and for street driving, the pad will be put back into place. These cars present real fitment challenges for clydesdales like you and me.

I think my problem is that I am all legs AND all torso. ;) Seriously I "think" I am averagely proportioned. Sitting in the car right now (no seat), it appears to be doable. But it seems to be factor of how close I can get my butt to the floor. I keep wondering if some seat brands/models have the bottom of the seat lower than others and I just need to find those and try some test fits.

I probably will need to do the slide forward and tilt back method as well. But I really don't want to cut into the seat crossmember, but I may have no choice. I may also have to use a wide seat as well.

You'll also want to use a side mount versus a bottom mount seat. I suspect that most all the higher quality seats utilize a side mount.

I have the Momo Starts and I love 'em. Great support, and a great price from LTB in Florida. Paid $235 including shipping. Good, solid mounts molded into the seat. Mine mounted up to the stock sliders with just a little mod. to the sliders. FIA-rated.

easy now Jason, we are stepping into a whole different area here now.

besides everyone knows Miata'a are faster than Corvettes. haven't you ever heard that in the classroom? especially when driven by a gold chain wearing geezer.
