I just talked to Adam, who was sitting in turn four at famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway watching the practice for the Indy 500, and he had a great morning. Our conversation kept getting interrupted with the melodious sound of IRL cars screaming past!!!

Heat 1 at the O’Reilly Raceway Park started off a little rough when Adam and Peter made a wrong turn on the way to the track and got there only 5 minutes before the start of their run group. After unloading the car, checking tire pressures, and donning his fire suit and helmet, Adam didn’t let the mistake affect him one bit. He managed another 1st place class win and was 14th fastest overall.

A side note for this morning was the return of the Twin Turbo Viper of Ronald Adee and Rick Schopp. Rejoining the event that they abandoned on day one!

The front straight at ORP is a horsepower lover’s dream and the TT Viper boys showed what they got. The drag strip front straight allowed them to break the beam at the end of the speed trap at 170 mph!!!!! By comparison, Adam’s trap speed was a paltry 126 mph!

Heat 2 was more of the same for Adam, collecting another class victory and finishing 11th overall.

Time for the Damage Report!!!

Brian Smith in the Hennessey Viper lost all chance at breaking Mark DaVia’s four-pete, when his clutch decided to give up the ghost. He DNF’d and withdrew from the event.

The Red Neon, er, SRT-4 of Douglas Wind, Devin Clancy and Ken Brewer missed a turn somewhere on course and ended up in the tires, ending their Cannonball Run.

An Audi TT, that was running an exhibition run, screwed up big and also ended up finding out what brand of tires they use for the tire wall.

Last item on the list for today was the unexpected appearance of the Drama Llama. I can’t say what happened right now, but just know that it was big. I’ll wait for it to show up on someone else’s forum before I post it here.

This afternoon will see Peter going for Low Elapsed Time honors and hopefully a win in the Bracket Race this evening on the Drag Strip. Good luck Peter!!

Todd,

Do you have the specs on their car? I was just curious what they had done to it to prep for one lap.

+1 -- curious here too.

Just your stock BMW 318i I believe!!

Actually the engine is completely stock, the shocks are Moutons I believe, the interior is gutted except for the front seats. I'll have to get the rest of the specs tonight when I get home.

Yeah, believe so. She's also the hot chick model the SCCA occasionally uses in marketing literature. She's a good driver, too.

Due to time constraints caused by several broken cars on the road course, the Bracket Race was cancelled. Instead Brock allowed each competitor to make two passes at the Low Elapsed Time. Taking the fastest time as their official time. With temperatures in the mid 90’s, traction was at a premium. Everybody was getting massive wheel spin, especially the high horsepower cars. I don’t have all the times yet and will post them when I get them.

Peter showed that the German Beast can actually make a respectable Drag Car. He was able to lay down a great 13.8 at 103 mph and backed it up with another 13.8 at 103. This was good enough for 2nd place in class. He was bested by the lighter Lotus Exige S of Geoffrey Bond and Scott Schober. Even with the horsepower deficit, the lack of weight allowed them to rip off a 13.6 at 95 mph.

Adam and Peter are now ranked 19th in the general classification!!

The only other time that I got was the Steve Rankins owned Boxer4Racing.com Subaru Sti going 13.1 at 98 mph. You have got to love the All Wheel Drive Traction Advantage!!!

More Damage Report…

Amanda Hennessey broke the limited slip in her Crapalier, er, Cavalier. They are still in the race, they just won’t be able to put the power down as effectively.

The Audi Quattro powered Volkswagen “TDI” was a no show at O’Reilly today. The rumor in the paddock was a transmission failure.

A program note for those of you planning on hanging out with our wreckless racers tomorrow at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, because of their stunning performance this week, they will be running in the second run group. Running at about 8:45 in the morning. So if you are going to go, get up early!!!

hey guys - thanks for following along. We are now here nearby mid-ohio. We are sitting on a 25pt class lead and in 19th place overall -- not too shabby considering we had a DNF at Pueblo!

Stacy - the times are three lap totals, but remember the 1st lap is from a standing start at the start finish line.

Regarding the car... Stock motor (not even a ECU tune). Header, high flow cats, stock muffler. Moton shocks, 750lb springs. gutted from the front of the front seats back + cage. lightweight flywheel/clutch. 4.10 gears. BIG ASS tires (yok advan neovas). kick ass driver. oh, and a new power steering line set (with another brand new spare in the trunk). -- what didn't get done before we left?? - Super light muffler (-50lbs) - lexan rear quarter windows and rear glass. ECU tune.

We have been having a blast. Tomorrow will be fun. I actually get to drive on a track that I have been on before! Every other track on this tour has been new to me. One thing to note, our only goal tomorrow is to finish both events with a 1st in class. Since I have been beating the nearest SSGT1 SB competitor by as much as 20+ seconds per event I might dial it down a little. I want to give this car back to Peter in one piece with a nice new trophy to go along with it. I will drive hard, but not crazy hard. Hopefully we can keep the top 20 overall and win the class. I sure am glad that Derrick forgot to flip that switch on his noble! that was a gift that I will gladly take! :)

Wish us luck tomorrow! Time to bring it home!
