Yellow group also had a Z06 driver that was clearly over driving his car. we were only on the first lap after the yellow at thirty some odd degrees. I'm trying to get my tires up to temp and this fool rides my bumper from turn 14 to the straight, the bad thing is I have no bumper, I let him pass and as he does he fish tails slightly on the straight, he slides his way through 1&2 and passes a 240z on the straight to nascar. his entry to nascar was way to hot and pulls a 225 degree spin in the middle of the track. Fortunately the guy in the 240 and I were aware that things might go wrong for this guy so we were both able to slow and drive by him. What was his instructor thinking? Cold tires, cold track, new car( he had been tracking a "600"hp RX-7 or so he said. In my experience thus far all my instructors have slowed things down at the first hint of the looseness that accompanies the edge of controll.

Throttle induced oversteer? What's that?

Exige guy has a lot of years in shifter carts apparently. I guess it didn't take him long to adapt to a suspension. And the slicks certainly didn't seem to slow him down.

My instructor (VK) was really good about reminding me that there's no point in being on someone's tail until we got to the corner before the passing zone.

By Sunay the passing signals were coming right on time. I was even getting some "I see you back there" waves.

What a good time.

This is the one of maybe two clean laps I got all weekend.

The exige, and the videos have been brought to our attention... we are inquiring. As far as the pass-without-a-signal in T7 incident that was referred to... it is hard to tell in the video, but it appears to me to be an avoidance, not an aborted late pass (the pass was not made).

I'll edit and post the link shortly

Here's the VIDEO
(those at home with children or at work with sensitve ears: warning for an S-bomb at the end)

Like usual, it was a well organize weekend. If it will have been warmer it will have been excellent. The car handling was not very good, the car behave like if the track was wet. In wet condition I usually get that kind of understeer. I try different tire with no change. I change the swaybar setting, it improved slightly but not really enough. So I drove the whole weekend like if I was driving in the rain but it was dry..... it was fun but not really good for the lap time.
Here a 2 laps video taken on Sunday. It lost some definition when downloaded to that site, but it's still acceptable.

Nice dry but rather cold weekend. That was about the only downside for me. I went to as many classes as I could. It was warm in there  The classroom sessions were good and I picked up some ideas.

First time in Red group with THSCC. That was a blast. Passing anywhere with a point is a bit rattling at first. It just makes the flow move well when people are cooperating. Other than a couple of miscues with the point-by, on me and a couple of other drivers. The group just hustled. That Cup car is amazing!

There were a couple of incidents in Red (no contact stuff) on Saturday. So we got short changed 2 sessions due to black flag all. In most clubs that's just too bad, get over it. In typical THSCC fashion the event staff decided to make it up to us. So on Sunday they let us share time in the White group so we could have 4 sessions. That is the Tarheel Spirit!

On Sunday, Jerry Digges didn't have a student. So he rode with me a couple of sessions then I rode with him. He helped me a lot with T1 where I was having a tough time. When you get it right and get back into the throttle that much sooner it makes T3 a wild ride. I was not expecting to have to brake that hard for T3 and almost went straight off to the Tech Shed! Took some recalibration for T3 in a good way.

Sunday afternoon Mark V. volunteered to ride with me  Yes I too was shocked. For the record. I did not make him throw up or anything and I'm still allowed to sign up for track events, I think... That was also quite productive and I got some more pointers on the Esses and the Stevie Wonders. I know you were very busy in the afternoon, so thanks for riding with me Mark.

Ron you are correct. I had a few people point me by after T7 as we were cresting the hill. Very weird place to be passing, but fun. I keep on telling myself I'm not going to pass going into T4 anymore. It's just too darned painful. But I do it anyway.

Like Bernie I was only doing 118 down the straight Rob.

I ran some in Red and it was just as much fun as White. Everyone worked well together and passes were made quickly and often. With my new race rubber even I got to pass a few people.

And yes, when you see even a slight hint of that 911 with yellow headlights in the mirror go ahead and point. That guy and that car are damn fast! I think he's the reason I lost two of my magnets he went by me so fast.

I gave him a point in 5A and he took it :-) Not bad for the 4th lap out. Then the clutch let go. Jerry Diggs is an awesome instructor. I had him a few events back at VIR.

I gave him a late point at the beginning of the uphill esses at VIR-F with NASA. Before I reached T10 he was exiting Oak Tree.

He's also very courteous. When you give him the wave, he backs off and gives you room.

I know I shouldn't say this... but I'm gonna anyway...

F&S pictures are horrible.

I guess they're nice guys and all, and convenient... but these pics might as well be taken out on Leesville rd or something... completely without character, framing, lighting... etc, etc.

This is why we've been paying Mark Boudoucies to snap pics for us since Novemeber. Mark's email is mark.boudoucies@dayzim.com

Email him with your car info and run group... he'll send you all the images of you in low res for you to look over. High-res images are $7. We'll have a Picassa site up soon so you can view them online.

No point in spending good money on bad pictures.

We don't ask F&S to be there (which is suppose to happen since I was told among track-day photographers that they are supposed to be invited). I guess they have something worked out with the track.
