Does anyone have experience tracking the V710? Especially on a heavy car? I'm curious what sort of wear a V710 will provide for HPDE track use. I have camber well-sorted with even wear, so it will mainly just be regular abuse the tires will take. These would be on my 2001 M5, so the car is HEAVY (i.e. 3920 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas), and the tires I'm looking at are the V710 285/30-18, same size all around.

I'm curious since those are the tires I want to use for some auto-x this year including the DC Pro Solo event in June, and I have no idea how durable they are for track use (I'm guessing not very?).

I was planning on buying some 275/35 Nitto NT-01s for this year's track events, and I may end up having to buy a third set of rims for the M5 for the V710s if this answer is what I think it might be, lol.

A follow-up question is mounting the 285/30 on a 9.5" rim -- is this going to be a b*tch to get it to take air?

While not on heavy car, I have been running them on my ITA protege. They work really well and seem to wear ok. With my front tires new and rear at about 50% life remaining, I ran three VIR full weekends (2hrs, 1.5hrs, 1.5hrs) and one Rockingham Tarheel weekend. That's about 6.5-7hrs of on track time on one set of tires with a front wheel car driven hard. They are near dead now.

Of course, if you go with Toyos or other hybrid tire you will probably get more wear out of them. But if your goal is to do track events and the ProSolo, then the only real choice is the V710.

what i have noticed with the V710's is exceptional lateral grip. mine were purchased used so they were broken in. i really liked them.

as they are pretty much clapped out for track i may do a Sanford event with them this season.

Aaron, given the trouble I (Grover) had trying to get a 245/35 V710 to air up on an 8" rim (failed), your effort had to have been worthy of some sort of recognition.

At the moment I'm held up with going to 285's due to strut clearance and the lack of the spacer width I need available for the E39 centerbore size. I sure wish Kumho made some 275/35's.

Keep the V710 hot pressure below 40 psi. Any higher and they get vague and greasy.

They like camber. Some is good, more is better.
