Rockingham noob question......Where exactly is the entrance to the track? I think I recall a tunnel under NASCAR turn 3, is this right? Will there be some signs, etc. directing us to the garage/media center areas?

The entrance is actually under turn 4. At the US-1 South split, stay to your right. The entrance is about 100-200 yards on your left. It is a little difficult to see in the dark. It is actually before the track itself. So if you are alongside the track, you have gone too far.

Pass through the tunnel and into the garage area.

Unlike years past, we are hoping the light has been fixed so you can see the entrance at night.

Hey guys... here's a map of the track... you can see on this image where the tunnel us under NASCAR 4 (EDIT: TURNS LABELED 1 & 2 ARE CORRECT). Disregard the other turn numbers as I did this before I knew what the corner workers used... The small square with the red star in it is where we'll be doing registration.

As far as turn numbers, I'm pretty sure where I have turns 3/4 should only be Turn 3. Where I have turns 5/6 should only be Turn 4. Then its 5,6, and 7 to get back onto the oval section.

Got it now. I was confusing the tunnel with the old crossover in 3. Thanks guys, see you this weekend!

Log books... Do we newbies need log books? Are HPDE's tracked? I would assume they are since this would be the map to gaining your license and going to TT's.

just curious....

We will have log books available that you can keep to track your own progress (remind us at check-in)... and with MotorsportReg, we track driver's progress by inputting notes left about you by your instructors.

In the near future, MotorsportReg will have an online log book of sorts that will also be self-tracking.

Well, all I can say is....Holy Cow, what a Rush!! An excellend weekend!! Hats of to Mark Vitaco, Stacy King, John King, Ron Spencer and all the other folks that made this a great weekend. From a noob standpoint, this was a flawless weekend save for the minor lunch delay on Saturday. I had the good fortune to have Gilbert Reynolds as my instructor. Excellent feedback and great teaching...I would like to think we both had a good time dispite this being my first event.

I guess I'm like Graham Jagger now... took a hit off of the go fast track pipe. Looking at 2 events for next year and have the TT in my sights now as well. Damn, looks like I'll be spending more money!!

Again, thanks to all for a great weekend and to Bernie, Adam and Mitch for helping with my brake problems Sunday morning.

signed, hooked on track

Welcome to the club Rodney. Been there, got several of the t-shirts. I look forward to seeing you in the paddock.

Glad you had a good time Rodney. It's addictive. I said 2-4 events. Then when I got back from RA in March I decided 8 events would be even better

Then I stopped Axing because I forgot how to take my foot off the floor with the gas pedal and tap the brake pad. And what's with the stupid cones?
