I'd be surprised if having the AC on hurt you, since most modern vehicles cut it off completely at WOT.

I did a dyno run just to disprove this Donnie. My car officially has 10HP less with the A/C on.

I only have 138HP to the wheels in a car that weighs 2950lbs, so unlike Tom I can remember to turn the A/C off.

Ditto. Although my dyno run with the AC was not intentional. :)

Some of us don't have to worry about AC :-) Real race cars don't have it.

BTW Vincent, we were in class day two and I overheard someone saying something about a fast Cavalier with big ass brakes - "running in A group" implying that you were outclassed. The next thing they said was how fast it was. :woo:

I didn't hear any complaints from the people in my group. I even asked a few just to be sure nobody had a problem with me on track. I've been there with folks in the wrong group and it's frustrating. Not so much their speed as their lack of communication with point-bys. It's usually someone like Graham. Damn Corvette drivers!

With the ZR-1 brakes, my car can stop with the best of them, but stopping from 110-115MPH is easier than from 160!

...but your tow rig sure does I'll bet! My "race car" is also my DD so the A/C delete is not an option...EVAR!

Hmmm..... as my ol buddy db sez,

'Real road rac'rs... race real road cars... on real road courses...' -db

And FWIW real road cars have real AC, leastwise all mine have. ;)

I didn't hear any complaints about my driving or communication. However there was one very rude Miata driver in C group. He saw me coming up on him, started waving in his rear view mirror. Then got right into the blocking position to slow me down. Then the $smarta$$ flipped me the bird!! :moon: Damned Mi-Otter drivers

Yes it is. Braking from 100-120mph I'm getting used to. 140mph and I'm at my personal limit. I'm going to pass on anything above that for a while. Big-ass brakes or not...

Interesting. Most everything I've had has done it. You could feel it kick back on after you let off the throttle. *shrug*

I love hanging around VK's car in the pits...whenever someone walks up to it (and he's not around), I'll start bragging on his brakes. Most are suitably impressed.

I've been told several times that my car is "over braked". At first I didn't see how that was even possible. Now I understand that my tires are the limiting factor. Still it's good to not worry about boiling the fluid or warping the backing plates on the pads.
