Anyone interested in this group buy opportunity that Steve Coleman uncovered?

We have a few newly-christened instructors from the RR clinic. Maybe other instructors have recalcitrant or older units looking to replace/upgrade.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for these higher-end units.

Hell, I might buy one just on General Principles to have a spare around. 8)

I'm interested, but have a technical question. Is there an easy way to make an adapter cable to use an existing radio setup in a helmet? I already have earmolds and a radio kit installed in my helmet for my in car radio system (Motorola based) and would love to be able to just plug into that for my end. I assume based on the picture that's some standard DIN connector, but can you get the wiring diagram for it easily?

Call ChatterBox USA at 1-888-452-2269 (toll free) and ask them.

AFAIK there are jacks for external audio and cell phones, so one of those might work also.

BTW, I noted that was a toll free call, because I had been led to believe that all 8xx area nubers were toll free, well they ain't. For instance 866 is and 864 isn't, at least according to the BellSouth operator.

Looked good, at first. But.... dang it....

The problem there is they don't list, and I'm betting they don't carry, the Student Headsets, and that's the only kind I would want.

I have a call into them to find out. I've yet to find a motorcycle site that had the Student Headsets.

This one went right over my head. It was the place someone, I think Ryan Blace, suggested I go to for the Nady (eBay was cheaper). I did, but didn't notice they had ChatterBox because I wasn't interested at the time.

Here's the best deal so far for single unit purchase of ChatterBox Tandem Pro In-Car Kit and Student Headsets.

OG Racing

ChatterBox Tandem Pro In-Car Kit - $67.45

ChatterBox Student Headsets - $26.99

Total w/ 2 headsets - $121.43

SHIPPING IS FREE for orders over $100

Hope they have them in stock.

I would say that it would be in the club's interest to pick up 5 sets of these on the group buy and have them available at cost at our track events. I think the HJC-50 w/ 2 student headsets would satisfy about 80% of the instructors out there. Heck if mine crapped out it would be nice to know that there was one I could buy to replace it.

Or THSCC could even consider buying 10 of these ourselves and offering them at a 25% discount to instructors. Yes, I think it's that important! That would make Steve happy :)

Mark V, how about it?

Now I remember -- that is the place I bought mine from. Had no problems with them at all, so much so that I forgot the name of the store :)

I agree with Brad, Mike and the others on this. It's a no brainer IMO. A 25% discount would be nice, but I don't think that's necesary, at cost is a pretty good deal.

I think it might be a good idea if the club had a few loaners to get folks through a weekend, if theirs crap out, or if it's someone who's been sitting on the fence like I was, it'd give 'um a chance to try it out. Then you could twist their arm to get one of their own.

Yeah, it'd make me happy if it could happen quick enough, but not likely and I'm determined to have one by next weekend. Ya'll made a believer outta me. It'd make me happy anyway just 'cause I'd like to see anybody needing one to get it at a good price and be more inclined to get the better model vs the Nady cheapo.

Just a suggestion,

Steve

PS: Heck, if I knew for sure enough folks wanted one and I wouldn't get stuck with some of um, I'd be tempted to put them on my 90 days same as cash CC. Just not in a real good fiscal situation to take a chance of letting that happen though. :(

I've been wanting to do that for awhile now. I hate trying to get that earpiece in a comfortable place everytime an instructor gets in the car.

Here's what I found for chatterbox

If you do the online order once you put them in your shopping cart they show up with a 10% discount. So your final costs is $109.29, shipped. They're in VA so it shouldn't take long to ship it.

Go ahead and tell Mark or Stacy you want to be an instructor because you want free entries. And you can't afford an intercom because it gets in the way of getting new tires/pads for you car. That would be an entertaining discussion to listen to...

LMAO!! :D

That's what I ended up with, assuming the order goes through. I noticed the 10% off, but thought it was accounted for in the listed price. Guess I was thinking about the other company.

Guess I can go check it's status online.... hang on... crap! the dang thing won't let me log in.... Ok, it's the damn cookies, wish it'd tell you it needed cookies instead of just crapping out. Oh well, it only shows it as 'placed' not shipped yet, so maybe they're still bolixed up with their phones and computers.

Should go through and be here in time for the 3rd and 4th.

FWIW, anyone using their site will find that it loads pretty quick, but then won't let you do anything for several seconds. Weird.

Bluetooth? When hell freezes over. It's taking forever to get anything of much consequence to use bluetooth. The bluetooth white paper, written well over ten years ago now, mentions things like bluetooth garage door openers. Of course, no such product exists to make your garage door bluetooth capable. *sigh*

There are a metric buttload of good uses for bluetooth with zero progress on most all of them.
