Congratulation to Mark and is team for the event this weekend. They did a great job again.
I got a suggestion, when it was decided to disallowed passing between 6 and 7 on Saturday morning it seem that the message didn't got to everyone. Even if the yellow flag was shown at 6 I still got some point by that I didn't took for sure. Talking to one of these person after he said that he didn't know about it and said, " that's why the yellow flag was there " . I heard it on the PA system but many time during the weekend I was not able to hear what was said on the PA because of car passing on the front straight or something else. I think that when they are checking for the wristband on grid they should have told each driver of the change. That way everyone will have know about it.
The time trial now, what a blast it was!!!!!! for me, the the way the group where done cannot be better. The 2 car in front of me where of similar lap time, so it was a matter of trying to catch them up. I pass the V8 Z when he decided that it was enough for him for some reason and had slow down a lot so that's was not really a pass by itself. Before that, both of us had pass the 944 Turbo, that was it for pass during the time trial. At the checkered flag I was coming to what was probably to last car of our group. One thing I like to know with results of the time trial is which lap was our fastest time. If a column can be added to show on which lap we did our best time it will be nice. Again Congratulation to Mark and is team for the event this weekend.

Patrice
That like is new/old transmission with the longer ratio.

I don't understand why everyone should have to be told about it? A standing yellow flag before turn #6 = no passing before turn #7. FYI, I was told about it in grid, but the flags override everything else AFAIK.

I agree 100% with Patrice that Mark, Stacy, Marty, and all the others involved behind the scenes made this a wonderful event. No complaints heard from anyone.

I had to laugh at your post Patrice. What did the driver say when you said " that's why the yellow flag was out". I enjoyed seeing the passing flag at the top of 7 on the cross over. I'm thinking that if you can make a pass there, your a driving maniac! Sure, pass me on the outside of Stevie Wonder!!

This is the first time I know of that we sent a car home. Multiple passes without signals and blaming everyone else for it. Guess they had a difficult time coming to grips with the fact it was a school and not a race. From what I understand he is a national level race driver...... The adjustment can be difficult.

A shame too about the stupidity being displayed during the touring laps. A spin, cars hanging back to get some open space then going full throttle with less then stock exhaust (did you think we were DEAF??) ended the fun for everyone. If you know any of these folks make sure to let them know your feelings about not being able to enjoy touring laps.

However, the vast majority of students did a great job of staying out of trouble and driving well on track. You all should congratulate your selves for such a good weekend with less then ideal conditions on Saturday. Thank you all for coming out and keeping it a safe and fun weekend!

And yes, the new time trial format is great! How many of you were a bit more tired after that then you thought you might be? I know I was!

Care to give details on what cars did what so I can make sure that I 'say' something to them next time? While I couldn't be there to instruct, I came up with my kids and the opportunity to go out on the race track was one of the highlights of my son's day. He was talking about "The Roller Coaster" for hours. Even my normally timid 2-year-old daughter loved it. My kids will be crushed should they not be able to go on a ride around next time and I enjoy being able to share what I do with them. I think I have a 30" prybar that has the same opinion and would like to say something too. :x

Why do people have such a hard time understanding what touring laps are about. Last Year NASA-MA was having the same problem, so several officials started going out dispersed in the the touring lap group, and radioing in people to be pulled off. There has been some serious discussion about doing away with touring laps entirely. One of the touring lap offenders did not happen to be a aqua fox bodied mustaing with a Saleen wing on the back did it? If so I will beat him personally since I work with him, and I warned him at the last nasa event I was at to stop being stupid on touring laps.

Don't have details except the car that spun was not a participant but someone visiting. The one car I "heard" going full throttle did have numbers on the windows. All I recall was a black sedan, maybe 4 door but can't be sure. Probably not the only one but hopefully the last. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy some time in touring laps.

Just out of curiousity, do all touring lap participants have to sign the waiver? Thinking about it, should the car that spun have ended up with a bigger problem, would that have put THSCC's ass on the line? I am thinking that if someone is a big enough meat tugger to spin on a farking touring lap, then obviously stupidity knows no bounds and the possibility of contact cannot be that remote.

I know I stopped in the tower and signed the waiver and got wristbands for my two kids (Sophie refuses to take hers off and is wearing it proudly still) just because I am familiar with the way events run. Perhaps we need to have a touring lap waiver and car sheet so that we can designate offenders persona non grata.

Vincent, no body told me on the grid.

Ron, i got the blue flag show to me a few times there also. I had just pass car under braking, so for sure the guy was on my tail at that point. Yeah you will see he will not stay closed to me for long.

I saw the spin...it was a black Maxima and it did a full 360 just before turn #3. Jackass for sure.

Yes, It was a great event!!!!!. I am constantly amazed at how much fun I can have for the buck. I actually think the weather was the best we could have asked for. I liked getting a LITTLE experience in the rain.

I will also weigh in on the touring lap thing. I actually came in just before it happened because I had ended up in the lead after coming out late and I was being pushed to hard for my comfort. I hate to see us stop them due to the actions of a few. Doing touring laps in my old slow 525 three years ago is what got me back into sports cars after a 15 year lapse. I agree that we could interspurse (spelling?) trusted members to keep the speeds down. Also, when I went out they just waived me out, we could tell every car before they went out what a max speed is and if they exceed it they will be black flagged.

On a lighter note, a few of you may have noticed a new ad for HH&W displayed on my car's decklid yesterday. Mark is branching out and expanding his services and I wanted to inform our group. Make sure you inquire with Mark the next time you see him about his new "offering".

Here is a link to the ad in case you didn't see it yesterday. WARNING, it may NOT be considered "WORK SAFE".

Suggestion for the touring lap problems -- Require an instructor ("babysitter") in every car during touring laps but don't completely do away with them.

I think it's a good compromise, since we *should* know everyone who wants to go out on touring laps -- friends, family, etc -- and it will force random people in black Maximas to go meet someone.

This assumes we trust our instructors of course :)

Umm, no. Sorry, but as an instructor, I often need time to recharge and that time is lunch. I don't want touring laps done away with either, but taking away lunch break from the instructors is a bad idea.

Now, it could be an initiation rite for instructor candidates...

This would be completely voluntary. It preserves a way for you to be able to take your kids out on track Rich.

The message would be "Want to do touring laps? You gotta go find an instructor who is willing to come along with you"
