The whole sequence shows a nice save :) When it was pointed straight and I looked up for the corner worker I saw the photographer....I knew he probably got it on film.

If the photographer was at Hogpen on lap #1 of the Blue session he would have gotten a similar shot of me. :P Man it was slick out there!

All you need to save the car there is the application of more throttle. that will transfer weight to the rear and increase rear grip.

Trust me, it will work!

I think that is a great sequence of shots. Particularly when you can see that the corner worker got the yellow out pretty much instantly that the car left the track. If someone knows how, please send this to the VIR corner workers with a big
Thanks for a job well done!

Very nice. Having never been on VIR (much less in the rain) I was shocked at the lack of traction in some of the low speed turns...especially Oak Tree. I thought i was crawling through that part but still came within inches of dropping the left rear off the concrete several times. I'm a green group noob and have never been on a track in the wet before. Are all tracks that slippery in the rain?!?

Oh, and awesome pics. A big thank you to whoever took em.

The grip in the Oak Tree corner can also be effected by whatever happens to be coming off the tree at that time of year. Sometimes its a huge difference from the rest of the track, you should try wet leaves ...

Odd. My experience of VIR in the wet on motorcycles is that the traction is surprisingly good. There's never a feeling of having to tip-toe around, and aside from being careful to build acceleration and braking forces gently until the weight transfer takes over, you're still pushing hard all the way around. I've still needed to hang off in full flood conditions on South Course.

On the other hand, bike tyres are a lot narrower and (aside from the equivalent of r-comps) therefore probably less subject to aquaplaning. Still, to me on a bike I found the tarmac had consistent traction and stuck pretty well.

I guess I'll write it off as just one of those differences when you add an extra two wheels.

i believe they are a couple of brothers who are local to the area. they had the trailer set-up across from the gift shop/pro shop. last time i checked it was $10 for a 8x10 glossy print. i would have got the one with my car next to a worker station but the porta-john was almost as big as the worker station.

btw was that the blue genIII RX7 with the dual exhausts, John?

And here I thought it was my p poor driving that caused that at Oak Tree. The hydroplaning was also quite breath taking!!!
