I'm running into a problem finding a replacement for my recently expired helmet (SA95 Bieffe Predator) - Bieffe redesigned their Predator helmets, and the new ones don't fit me right. I also tried on a variety of Bell and Arai helmets and found nothing that fit comfortably. I'm hoping maybe a G-Force or Pyrotect helmet might fit me better but don't know of anywhere to try them on. Anyone know of anywhere local to Cary, NC to try on either brand?

Keith, I would let people know your approx. head size (ie. 7 1/8 ) and see if anyone has anything that might fit that you can try on (within the club). I found that Raleigh is severly lacking in helmet shops (not including M rating). If you were down my way, you would have the pick of the litter here in Charlotte. - AB

I still think it's worth the ride to the Simpson Store in Mooresville. They got helmets up the a___. Plus, they were running a deal on SA2000's last time I was in there. A helmet's only good for 5 years anyway before it gets a little "gamey". SA2000 would get you to 2010. 8)

That depends...no not DEPENDS the old man bladder protection you use Brad. I have an SA2000 HJC Model that has a removeable and machine washable lining. I got it from www.helmetcity.com for about $230.00 last March.

Keith I can bring my size large Impact Racing helmet to lunch or something if you're interested. Mine's a Charger (http://www.impactraceproducts.com/item.wws?sku=14000508) with the Plus 10 expanded eyeport.

I've only worn it for one Road Atlanta test day but so far I really like it a lot. Well built and fits me perfect.

I imagine that we could get a lot of people to bring their helmets to a lunch. I have a Bell, which Keith you have already indicated you do not like, but if there are others who would like to try before they buy, I think we could set a date and do a helmet fitting luncheon.

Sounds great, Karl, thanks for the offer. If we can catch up at a lunch sometime soon, I'd like to take you up on it. I've noticed the Impact ad in GRM lately and wondered about them. I noticed they list their white color as a silver/white, which sounds pretty cool, too.

Thanks for the suggestion, PJ. I didn't notice any helmets when I was at Black Forest awhile back, but I wasn't there for a helmet, so it wouldn't surprise me if I didn't notice. I'll give Adam a call.

Thanks for the suggestion, Brad. Is it correct to assume the Simpson store doesn't sell other brands of helmets? (I'm hoping to try on a wide variety of brands if I drive that far.)

Good suggestion, Aaron.

My SA95 Bieffe Predator is a Large / 60 cm, which I think translates to a size 7-1/2.

Strangely, the SA00 Bieffe Predators fit much tighter (they were redesigned in 2004) - I can't even get a 60 onto my head, even a 61 is too tight, and a 62 fits me poorly. I found similar problems with the Arai SA00 helmets - I had to go up to larger size to even get them on my head, and none fit comfortably.

Stupid Question- I know, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people asking questions- What is the difference in Bell, Simpson, etc and your run of the mill helmets sold at motorcycle shops (hjc, fulmer, shoei, etc.)?Besides the stupid Harley stuff these are all snell rated.

There are different ratings, either M or SA. I believe the SA covers fire and blunt impact. The M is for motorcycles and covers more skidding along the highway type of impact.

I was at the local BMW dealer looking at a new bike and asked if the helmets they carry are SA or M rated...they did not know the difference. They only knew they were DOT approved. They were great answering all my questions on the bikes though.
